  • Ole Lurkers first post!

Long time lurker here taking the leap and making my first post on BradleyFans.com First things first:

I cannot thank the folks that keep this site running enough for all their efforts in providing the fans a place to come for the "inside scoop" <wink> on our Bradley Braves.

I want to point out that I am not a graduate of BU (yet), however, I am a continuing education student (the old guy on campus). I became a Bradley fan years ago while growing up in the small town of Mason City, IL. My grandfather was a HUGE Braves fan and watched every game he could - didn't get an opportunity to attend many. I was in Jr. High at the time and really didn't follow Bradley hoops much. One of our schools biggest rivals at the time, however, was the dreaded Havana Ducks....................that's right, Trimpe and the King twins! Even though we "hated" Havana and would tell everyone such, I secretly kept to myself that I wanted to be able to play ball like Trevor when I grew up...............haha. (childhood hero?) Needless to say, I became a Bradley fan and just at the right time..................Hawkins, Les, Trimpe and the gang - well, the rest is history.

My username claims to be the #1 BU Fan. I'm sure all of you feel the same way in some fashion. I am passionate about BU hoops and can't get enough info..............thanks again mods!

Though not a season ticket holder, I attend several games throughout the year. One of these years I'll breakdown and buy season tix. Just get too good of a deal through Cat! I look forward to talking/chatting with you folks in the future and will try not to make "long-winded" posts.

    GO BU!

    Welcome to the board, #1.

Now, my question is who does #2 work for?

I'll give you 3 guesses, but the first 2 don't count.

Welcome as a poster, #1 BU FAN!

Our stats have always revealed that BradleyFans.com gets a lot of viewers who never sign up or post. We have 1,455 registered members, and 1,239 of them have logged in within the last 12 months.
But we have had as many as 13,760 unique visitors in one month (in March, 2008 ).

I would encourage those who are BU fans to take the step #1 BU FAN did and register. The board has a few features that registered members take advantage of, but the "lurker" doesn't. The registered member can adjust many features of the board in the User Profile that customizes it for each member. It is easier to see the unread posts, and the messaging feature allows members to communicate with each other. Some members keep personal blogs about Bradley that includes information that is never posted on the board, and registered members are the only ones who can get that inside info.

Welcome aboard #1. Trust me, lurking on the board is good for a while, but posting is more fun.

OMG Scouter, I almost spilled my coffee when I read this post....
The only thing missing is the Tom Arnold line but that isnt appropiate
for the intent on this thread.

Mason City huh? I bet you get a lot of questions about the Olympic archer from there...

Welcome aboard, I hope you enjoy the good natured banter we have going here...

Its certainly better than what I had to deal w/ before I found my way here

Yeah, we are proud of Vic and his many accomplishments....................most notably, his Olympic medals and international success. While most of us really don't follow the sport, other than during the Olympics, it's a pretty cool story of a small town kid with big dreams. Vic's oldest sister was a classmate of mine....................his younger sister Sally was pretty darn good herself and won her share of national and international competitions....................ok, enough about archery!

MC (well, our consolidated school dist., IC) is also proud of our first D1 athlete, Annie Cave. Those of you who follow women's volleyball know that Annie is a Freshman OH on the Bradley women's Volleyball team. Annie grew up in Easton and know her family real well..................................course everyone knows everbody's family real well from them there parts! )
