I grew up in Bartonville and I have to give a little love to Tyroni's, right up there with Peoria area best. Larry's Driftwood is real good also. Blarney Castle out in Chilli not bad either.
Living in Houston there are a ton of options for food, but I have not found any pizza place down here that comes close in taste to any of the pizza places everyone has mentioned.
Heck Dominos is good stuff down here

My current pizza favorites are Oliver's in Peoria Heights and Lucca's in Bloomington.???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

When I first got to BU I loved Fedora's pizza, back when it was still kitty corner from U-hall. Then as I got older I started bartending at Donnelly's in Campustown. I worked and hungout with a bunch of Peoria Kids that introduced me to some of the finer things in Peoria, like Aggatucci's and the Tiger Sauce. After I got married my wife's brother was transfered down to Mossville, giving me a reason to get back to Peoria at least once a year. The first time we came down to visit him, he had no clue where anything was, he lived in Dunlap and pretty much worked and went home. I made sure to introduce him and my wife to my two favorite eating spots in the city. Now whenever anyone in my wife's family goes to visit him a trip to Aggies is always on the agenda, and when he come's home he usually grabs me a Spicy Italian from Fedora's. In fact, it's almost time for my late fall visit!

I lived in Geisert Hall in 1987-88.
The La Gondola was next to the old Avanti's and was in decline. We certainly kept the old Avanti's carry out window busy. (I believe currently one of the La Hood son's runs the La Gondola in Bloomington and it is very good.)
Fedora's was good too. I remember the hot sandwiches they used to make in the in their pizza oven. They were great. If you could stand to have your ear talked off by the owner. The BU motor pool was next door and we would stop at Fedora's after taking vans back.
Aggie's was my favorite though. Spent a lot of time there after ball games during my Peoria area coaching days. If you went in there on a friday night after football you would find numerous area coaching staff's "decompressing" after a game (esp. a win!)Get Well Massive Mike! "Once a Brave always a Brave!"

I thought one of the La Hood's ran the Leonardo's into bankrupcy. Perhaps another one (or same one's LaGondola bought the old Leonardo's Pizza and is now selling LaGondola pasta and torpedo's and Leonardo's Pizza (Which is my favorite)
In Bartonville, I liked Dave's. Which to me seemed to be 99% as good as Tyroni's at 50% the price..
