Back in July, Ben Simons was on the verge of breaking out. The Cadillac (Mich.) Senior forward was playing with the Grand Rapids Storm in Las Vegas when he injured his knee. At that point, the big schools that had been peeking at him ceased. Drake and Wisconsin-Green Bay never wavered and made Simons’ decision a difficult one.
On Wednesday, Simons committed to the Bulldogs. Simons visited Providence, Green Bay and made an unofficial to Western Michigan.
As a junior, the 6-foot-8 Simons accounted for 19 points a game. He joins a strong Drake five-man recruiting class that includes players from 4 different states.
Drake’s stellar Missouri Valley class includes Simons, guard David Smith, and forwards Reece Uhlenhopp, Aaron Hawley and center Seth Van Deest.
