  • Patrick O'Bryant articles

Patrick O'Bryant worked out for the Philadelphia 76'ers yesterday on his 20th birthday.

There was also a nice feature on POB on Comcast Sportnet (cable channel 56 in Peoria and East Peoria) that showed part of his workout in Philadelphia and part of a media interview with him. The Sixers have the #13 spot in the draft and expect POB to be gone by then. But there are rumors that they are working on a trade to move up (see below)

Patrick gets called back for another workout with the Jazz.

In this article from Utah, it relates that NC State's big man, Cedric Simmons has cancelled his trip to Utah believing he is
certain to have already been picked by the time Utah gets it #14 pick. Almost all mock drafts, though, have POB going
ahead of Simmons, and ahead of #14.

Also in this article is a bit about Marcellus Sommerville:
"The Jazz worked out three draft prospects Wednesday: Michigan State shooting guard Shannon Brown, a likely first-
round pick who showed what Jazz basketball boss Kevin O'Connor called "adequate" shooting but decidedly impressive
athleticism and competitiveness; swingman Marcellus Sommerville, who played for ex-Jazz guard Jim Les at
Bradley; and Temple forward Antywane Robinson."

Marty Blake, widely acknowledged to be the top expert on NBA talent and on scouting & the draft, was quoted as saying Patrick will be TOP 10.

      >>>>>>>>>>>>
Wednesday's top 10 will almost certainly include LaMarcus Aldridge, Tyrus Thomas, Adam Morrison, Brandon Roy, Rudy Gay, Sheldon Williams, Marcus Williams, Patrick O'Bryant, Randy Foye and (Andrea) Bargnani.
But which player ends up with which team? Nobody knows.

      ...

Bradley's O'Bryant vaulted into the draft picture in March with a spectacular NCAA Tournament. He has gone from a late-first rounder to a middle first-rounder to a lottery pick to the top 10.

O'Bryant had two years of collegiate eligibility remaining but declared for the draft when his NBA stock kept rising.
"They like his potential, they like his length," Bradley coach and former Jazzman Jim Les said. "There's really not a lot of size in this draft."

This guy doesn't think much of Patrick O'Bryant's chances of being successful in the NBA.
"Patrick O'Bryant, Warriors. Sorry, Developmental League stats don't count in fantasy"
