  • 2009 recruit David Brown to visit Bradley the weekend of Sept. 26-27

There is a new report out this morning about 2009 Bradley recruit David Brown, a 6'3" shooting guard from Rockton (Ill.) Hononegah High School.
He is scheduled for a visit to campus next weekend, Sept. 26-27.
Maybe he'll be at the BU Soccer Tailgating Party?

    More from the Recruiting Board.--

wow... I am getting fired up to go to the tailgate party now!!!
    Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

Sadly I'm going to miss the Tailgate party, as I'm playing in the Lafayette, Indiana Gus Macker next weekend. If David Brown is there, I'm counting on you guys to show him how great BU and Peoria can be.

Chris Roberts liked his visit that included the tailgate (see photo earlier in thread) last year. Maybe we'll be just as lucky with David Brown.

Wait T, who's that real skinny kid in your picture from last year's party standing alongside Chris Roberts? He looks familiar...must be related to a certain player who I saw walking on campus on Tuesday, a player who looked more muscular than in that picture from a year ago.

I took that pix last year, but you're right, he does look like a skinny version of a current player.

Great news that we're going to have a real shot at David Brown. And I think we really do based on his comments about wanting a family type atmosphere at school and a good education.

Speaking of Western Michigan, here is an interesting ESPN article about a freshman on their basketball team that continued to get recruiting interest well after he signed a LOI for WMU. Only the recruiters were some big-time football programs.--
Flenard Whitfield committed to Western Michigan hoops. But then the Michigans and Floridas of the football world came calling. Whitfield shunned them to keep playing hoops, writes Dana O'Neil.

Flenard Whitfield, one of the top scorers and rebounders for WMU
(and the guy who singlehandedly beat ISU in last year's BracketBuster)
...is finally going to get to realize his FOOTBALL dream --
..he's going to take advantage of the same rule Greg Paulus took advantage of....
and now he's going to use one more year of eligibility and find a school to play football for...
I wonder if he kept the phone numbers of all those schools that had been recruiting him...
