URBANA, Ill. (AP) -- A judge in central Illinois is expected to consider if former Illinois basketball player Jamar Smith will have his probation revoked for allegedly drinking alcohol.
Smith is scheduled to appear at a morning hearing in Champaign County Circuit Court.
He's serving two years' probation after pleading guilty last year to felony driving under the influence causing great bodily harm. He drove a car into a tree in February 2007, injuring former teammate Brian Carlwell.
Champaign police breaking up an argument outside a bar in July said they saw the 21-year-old Peoria native and that he smelled of alcohol. Police say Smith admitted drinking.
Illinois coach Bruce Weber then kicked Smith off the team.
