Larry Krystkowiak, the head coach at University of Montana, is rumored to be close to agreeing to an assistant coaching position with the Milwaukee Bucks.

A source tells ESPN.com that Montana coach Larry Krystkowiak will become an assistant coach with the NBA's Milwaukee Bucks.

Your title had me in a state of shock, smitty. But they do call Krystkowiak "Coach K".

The thing about this story I find interesting is that it is unusual for a head coach at a Div I to quit his job for an NBA assistant position. There have probably been others, but the last one I remember is Dick Versace in 1986. That situation was much different, however, since "Coach V" had only 1 year left on his contract and was not going to be renewed. Krystkowiak is an up-and-coming coach with a bright college coaching future.

He must have tired of the recruiting grind, and favors the NBA schedule. They get several months off without the responsibility for offseason recruiting and fundraising.
