But I feel optimistic, as I still am convinced BU brings back the best PG and possibly the best 2-guard (who can also play PG), and a decent PF, along with fine defenders like JJ.
Tornado, the kool-aid is really flowing... Possibly the best 2-guard?
What about Ahearn?
What about Funk?
What about Tatum?
What about Ogirri?
What about Young?
Franklin is a nice player, but tell me how do you think he compares to any of the above?
Why not throw Klayton Korver onto your list?
Sure they could have fine years, but Will is a very good player and showed something in the MVC tourney and in the NCAA that I believe sets him apart from the rest. In the NCAA he averaged 8pt, 3 asst. in a non-starting role averaging only about 20 mpg.
Will is set to have a breakout year.
He was a big reason BU made it to the Sweet Sixteen.
I am aware of those other players, and I stand by my statement.
Can even one of those other players help their team by playing PG for long stretches?
BB I agree that expectations will be low for next years team but am I wrong in saying that there is a very positive feel about the overall direction of the program? I like the non-con part of the schedule. Lots of Chicago teams can't hurt recruiting.
Oh no new guy, not at all. I wasn't trying to discredit that feeling whatsoever. If anything, I was supporting it with a poor attempt at humor (i.e. the existence of Xavier Crawford).
I think one would be crazy not to have a positive feeling about the overall direction of the program. Next year expectations will certainly be lower with OB heading to the league, but there is the potential for this team to suprise, no doubt about it. Add to that the stud class we're bringing in '07-'08, and you can't help but be excited about the direction of Bradley Basketball. It's been a long time since we could say that and have tangible evidence to support it.
Hey BB. I never would think you would discredit the BU program. I did not mean it that way. I always enjoy reading your knowlegable posts. Keep it up.
I was just trying to see if you and everyone else had the same positive feeling about the direction of the program.
I certainly have a very positive feeling looking at the next 3-4 seasons. Now that we've had tangible results that legitimizes what is going on, I can handle a less-that-stellar season (.500 at the worst) because I know that help is on the way (Fears, Williams, 2 other scholies), and that when given the players, the staff has proven it can get the job done. That's all I have personally ever asked for with this regime - proof. Now I finally have it. It's a great feeling.

The only guy I'd take on that list is Ogirri..................but I'm more than happy with Franklin/Couch/Tauai/Brown/Warren. I'd put that group of flex 2-guards (as a combination) up with any in the country. It's up to Les to find and stick with the hot hand on a game to game basis.

We may be weak in the paint but as pointed out, so are most other MVC teams, so I think it depends on how quickly some of the inexperienced guys can mature (Sam, XC, Ray, Salley, etc.)
t, do you think we will finish of teams like creighton, wichita state, and southern illinois this upcoming season?
Someone posted over on the "other board" quoting someone who was familiar with the BU program as saying Bradley was going to be "for sh*t" in 2006-2007. (did you see that thread, BB, as it was taken down quickly when it degenerated into a bash-JL thread?)
(those are not my words, but those of the fellow quoted)

This is why I no longer care for any 'other boards'.
I am not saying I live on Kool-Aide. I am saying I don't live on negativity. I have spent enough time in my life around people and their opinions that I don't care for - I am done.
But I do share your sentiments, and wonder how and why people who call themselves Bradley fans so perpetually look for something to complain about and be negative about. Talk about unnecessarily torturing themselves. Most of them were so miserable all of last year they totally missed something very, very special!
But those ARE NOT generally Bradley fans. I have come to believe most of those who harp continually on the bad, are just born misanthropes
(how's that for a word? This is the first time it's ever been used on BradleyFans.com)
I am fully convinces most of them do not go to BU games and are more happy when they lose than when they win.
Their words speak clearly to that point.
Exactly Chi Town. Just seeing, and then posting the schedule got me real pumped for the upcoming season and whether we struggle or not is a long way off, and is not the point, but to some other people even if we win it's not good enough, and to be honest, I feel sorry for them because they don't get to enjoy it like some of us do.
