    Thanks "06!!

Just about everything I hear about BU is either directly from someone I know on the Hilltop or right here on the boards!

So.....Rutgers is the 1st round opponent in the Chicago tournament. Big East opponent.....I like it!

Also, isn't the Iowa State game being played in Des Moines this year, which would technically make it a neutral site game?

Ya, that's my bad, the Iowa State game is being played at a neutral site.

IMO it is shaping up to be a great non-con schedule. Something tells me though that these teams wouldn't be lining up to play us if Big Pappy was back on the Hilltop...

Wait until they run into Zach, Salley and XC. I have a good feeling about this team...

Well, I have heard a number of reports that Xavier Crawford does indeed exist, and that he is in fact a very large individual (he was spotted this weekend in Peoria with Lawrence Wright and others, and was said to be close to POB's height). Hopefully has some basketball skills and can remain eligible (I have my questions about Boys to Men Academy, but so far so good). No one is really expecting much from him or BU this year, so he could be a nice suprise.

BB I agree that expectations will be low for next years team but am I wrong in saying that there is a very positive feel about the overall direction of the program? I like the non-con part of the schedule. Lots of Chicago teams can't hurt recruiting.

Oh no new guy, not at all. I wasn't trying to discredit that feeling whatsoever. If anything, I was supporting it with a poor attempt at humor (i.e. the existence of Xavier Crawford).

I think one would be crazy not to have a positive feeling about the overall direction of the program. Next year expectations will certainly be lower with OB heading to the league, but there is the potential for this team to suprise, no doubt about it. Add to that the stud class we're bringing in '07-'08, and you can't help but be excited about the direction of Bradley Basketball. It's been a long time since we could say that and have tangible evidence to support it.

Someone posted over on the "other board" quoting someone who was familiar with the BU program as saying Bradley was going to be "for sh*t" in 2006-2007. (did you see that thread, BB, as it was taken down quickly when it degenerated into a bash-JL thread?)
(those are not my words, but those of the fellow quoted)

But I feel optimistic, as I still am convinced BU brings back the best PG and possibly the best 2-guard (who can also play PG), and a decent PF, along with fine defenders like JJ.
We may be weak in the paint but as pointed out, so are most other MVC teams, so I think it depends on how quickly some of the inexperienced guys can mature (Sam, XC, Ray, Salley, etc.)

I saw some of that on ValleyTalk, but none from any credible posters over there. I also didn't see it on the 'other board', but oh well. Those posts now seem only to resonate from those who refuse to acknowledge what happened last year and the fact that BU actually looks to be a winning basketball program again.

Bradley can be a good team and still finish in the lower part of the conference. There are some solid Valley teams entering the season. Hopefully, they will be able to shine in the non-conference portion of the schedule.

I like what I've seen so far from BU's schedule. The Iowa State deal looks pretty good, especially with them coming to Carver Arena in what looks to be a good BU team in '07-'08.

It's good to see the Chicago schools on the schedule.

Some of the top teams in the Valley such as UNI and WSU lose some key players like BU does.
Most of bottom dwellers don't look to be that much better, although you never know.
I think the Valley is wide open and I am not ready to give it to SIU just yet.
Remember, SIU lost 5 of their final 8 games in the Valley season,
and lost at home by 9 to Indiana State, so I am yet to be convinced they are unbeatable.

Hey BB. I never would think you would discredit the BU program. I did not mean it that way. I always enjoy reading your knowlegable posts. Keep it up.

I was just trying to see if you and everyone else had the same positive feeling about the direction of the program.
