I remember being in my truck (had a delivery service) and heard it was a small plane also. Went into Schnucks in Pekin and the receiver asked if I had heard about it and said yes but it was only a small plane and he said no it was a large one-went out to my truck and called my wife and she said her staff was was watching it and the second plane had just hit the WTC and one was headed to DC. I finished my route and did nothing extra that day-just went home and watched it all day on tv in disbelief.
Like all of us it will be a day I will never forget- I can still close my eyes and think about and see that second plane as it hit the trade center and then to see the building fall was unbelievable.

There is one more thing that we are all probably trying not to remember subconsciously and that is when the people started jumping out of the building. That image more then any other really gets to me.

My story is pretty lack luster...asleep in Harper when the first hit, in the shower for the second.

I've since moved to NYC and work as a project manager in construction. My ironworkers were a part of the rescue effort on 9/12. I know guys that were cutting the doors off cars and fire trucks to see if there was anyone inside. One of the guys says that if you tried to make a movie of it, however grotesque you could try to make the scene, it wouldn't be enough. They said you could see random severed body parts all over. The guys that went there to help now, also are developing asthma and other illnesses since then; its one thing the media isn't making up.

It has now become tradition, construction sites all over the city stop at 8:46 for a moment of silence.

It's a shame that a couple posts had comments that they didn't learn anything that terrible day. Even old timers, like myself, learned that there are people out there that hate the USA and our successes and learned how much greater this country can be when we all come together like we did after 9-11.
What part of illegal don't you understand?

Not sure I understand this correctly. I have not read a post that says this on this board. Are you reffering to some other board?

Certainly agree with this. Could never have imagined the country being so divided after that. The price of bad leadership is compounded during historic times.

I was a newbee at a big law firm. (Ex-) wife called and said some ***** pilot hit the WTC. Then a friend called and said a second plane hit. We were talking and then he went silent for about a minute. I kept saying, "Are you there? What's going on? Are you there?" He didn't speak for what seemed like forever but I could hear him fidgeting around with the phone. Then he muttered in a crying voice, "It went down. The whole g/d building just collapsed."

Then a call on the other line . . . my wife hysterical because our brother-in-law worked a block away from the WTC.

The whole thing was so surreal.

As I was trying to digest what had happened, a high-ranking partner came into my office. "I need you to research this issue for me. Need the answer by noon. Get on it." I asked, "Have you heard what's happenend?" He said yeah, so what? "Get ON it. NOW."

Still my least favorite human being of all time. I left that firm about 6 months later. That conversation was the reason.

I think you are taking their posts out on context. If I read them correctly they were referring to regular school work (math, spelling etc..) not about life.

                    Thanks for clarifying that, SFP.

I'd have to have been a fool to not learn anything that day about Osama Bin Laden, Al Qaeda, terrorism or hatred toward America. I thought it was clear in my post and ph's that we were referring to not learning anything like we would on a normal school day. That day was anything but normal.

I didn't take anything out of context, just saying that we all should have LEARNED something that day.
