  • Major NCAA violations at Richmond--upcoming BU opponent

A Richmond assistant coach has resigned and they are admitting NCAA violations involving outlawed text messaging of recruits. It sounds like the NCAA will handle these violations as major infractions because "rules were knowingly and repeatedly broken."--

Richmond coach Chris Mooney is still optimistic about a good season despite losing their leading returning scorer who is out for the year after suffering a knee injury in July.

I am sure Richmond will get the death penalty for such blatant disregard for the rules. I mean, that's the precedent that was set with illegal contact by Indiana, right?

I hope the NCAA waits until after we play them.

Here is a more detailed accounting of the NCAA findings. This was an official release by Richmond--

Here are a couple threads froma Richmond message board to see what their fans think--

It will be real interesting how the NCAA handles this. IU had a cheater from the get go and was a repeat offender. Richmond on the other hand is a 1st time offender and their head coach was not involved. I can't wait until we see the verdicts on IU and Richmond and how the NCAA will spin it because we know they will.

All I was saying is that IU's position is worse then Richmond and I really want to see how the NCAA spins this so as not to slap IU to hard but slap Richmond silly!

Haven't we seen this movie before? The NCAA has been neutered when it comes to taking action against the big schools. Whcih would explain why Miles Brand has developed man b00bs

What also will be interesting is which of these two cases gets an announced penalty first. Im betting Richmond gets their penalty before Indiana, but then again Id bet Indiana doesnt get any penalty.

In fact Richmond will probably just have to take on theirs and any sanctions that were going to be alloted to Indiana.
