  • Who will be the Braves Break-out Player of the Year?

I want to see who thinks what player will step up the most and become a presence on the team next year. I am not going to include Theron Wilson or Andrew Warren, because they are both well established, will be starters, and will have improved over last year already.

    Sam Singh.
I look for him to have a great year. He showed flashes of his offensive moves last year. He has a good work ethic and great mental toughness going through all the rehab and I bet his defense and rebounding will be improved. He is our most experienced big. He passes well and handles the bell well inside. He should get a lot of PT early and take advantage IMO.

I know that you said you are leaving AW out, but I just wanted to add that I think he could be a player of the year candidate. I have heard that he showed up in great shape and with a great attitude this summer and has openly said now is the time for him to lead. The person that told me this and has seen him play many times this summer said "I think Andrew is ready to compete at the highest level of our league right now"

Went with WE as my choice....its hard for me to pick DD, CR, TB, JW or AT without having seen them play D1 ball before......would really like to see DC have a bust out year but any of the above names will work!

I understand about Andrew, but a lot of us, including myself already see him doing what you just said. So this is more about the player most people would not really expect to just bust out. And we already pretty much know what Sam Singh is capable of, he should be better this year, but I'm talking about just blowing away the fans or surprising them. We have a lot of newcomers/young players, so it isn't that hard to believe that one of them will step up in a major way this year.

I'm really hoping for Will Egolf or any big man. There's certainly plenty of playing time available in the front court.

I ended up voting for Chris Roberts. I've never seen him play and I don't know too much about him. However, when I was talking to somebody that is around the team quite a bit and I asked him which newcomer is looking the best so far, without hesitation, he said 'Roberts'.

Would love to see Egolf but gotta go with what I've been hearing and reading -- Roberts!

            (Maniscalco already "broke out", IMO)

I voted Will Egolf. I know he was disappointed with his showing last year, and posesses the skills to be an exceptional player for Bradley. I think we'll see it this year.

Dodie Dunson as I think he can contribute both offensively and be our defensive stopper; Warren and Wilson should both play good so I would not consider either one of them under these guidelines. I hope Will is the one as we have plenty of good guards and if we can get big numbers from one or more of our bigs then we could be a very good team.

Voted for WE, but would also love to see AT or DC have a huge year too.

IMO SM already had his break out season. I expect him to score around 10-12 but big points when we need them, 7-8 assists, 5 rbs per game and run a steady O for our real scorers. I picked Roberts because he is a Junior and does not have the luxury to just sit there and learn. I also am going to to say DD will be our defensive stopper and his will be just as important as being a scorer.
JL will play a guy who maybe struggling a bit on the O but if you are not hustling and playing solid D you will see the bench.

I want it to be Egolf and/or Collins. IF those two can take it up a level or three BU will be one tough team. Roberts is really an interesting choice from all reports but D1 actuall games are a different animal then practice.

I'll go with Collins...more hopefully then gut feeling.

I've said in the past that AT would've been our most productive inside player last year.

Not only did he get the redshirt year, he got the extended practice thanks to the CBI run.

However, Collins also got valuable game experience during the CBI run.

I think both will be pleasant surprises, but based on what I saw from AT last year in the scrimmage and exhibition game in which he played, he gets my vote.

I chose Will, but I think Roberts could be the player as well. Or both. I think Roberts has a good chance because his natural talent and build, even though he is raw. I thought Wilson did a nice job coming in @ D-1, and I think Roberts is about as good or maybe better than Wilson was last year coming into the league.

I voted WE simply because from what I read his team mates think he has worked hard to improve but also I believe he wants it bad.

I though believe with all my red colored koolaide drinking Bradley sole that this team will be the biggest break out. We were oh so close last season even after all the distractions and injuries to being right there, I truely believe this team will end up being very special.

The break out this year will be all the bigs and not just one. As I have been saying there is no team in the the MV that can match up to us the whole game, if our bigs come to play! BU will win the the MVC this year!
