  • We need quards... HUH?

So, not 3 months ago people were talking about how bad we needed big men, that JL couldn't recruit big guys and we'd be destined to be fighting to avoid the play-in round year-in and year-out because we wouldn't have an inside game. Our next 5 recruits... 6-7 Taylor Brown, 6-8 Milos Knezevic, 6-7 Sean Harris, 6-8 Jordan Prosser, and 6-9 John Wilkins.

Others were complaining left and right about our reliance on JUCOs... All of these players are 4 year players, save sean Harris who is 3 years. The JUCOs we got gave us great play and allowed the program to get established so we could get recruits like this.

Now I'm scratching my head at how JL can possibly get a guard that can keep these guys happy and shoot the three enough to keep our guys from being doubled-teamed down low...

At the end of the day I can honestly say I think we may be in a better position going forward than any other MVC team, and despite all the criticism, and doubts, and negativty, JL is positioning BU to be looking at NCAA tourney berths regularly and to be a household name along the likes of Gonzaga very very soon. Great Job JL, I'm d@mn glad I'm staying in P-town after graduation!

Yeah, things are looking very good. Hopefully this recruiting will translate to the court and Bradley has great teams in the next few years. I have to say I was going over our schedule and I think we should go into St. Louis with at least 20 wins, maybe 21. Should have at least 11 conference wins, hopefully 12, 9 non-conference wins, and probably 2nd place in the MVC. (Depends how we play Creighton and Drake this year) Overall I'm pumped.

        I'm Happy

I am always nervous until everything is signed on the Letter or they are enrolled in school. But assuming everything works out, this is the most exited I have been about a recruit (Wilkins). I would love Darius Smith or David Brown to finish off the class. We would be very well set.

How fun would it be to a fly on Matt Roth's wall? Well, except the spot where he's banging his head...

Ehhh, in my opinion we're gonna be over recruiting him FWIW.

Does that leave only 1 ride left for next year asssuming everything falls into place with MK- JP and JW getting the last ride this season? If so look for JL to be real picky with that and give it to someone he really wants!

I think you're right. But, I think he has to see that his final 2 have gone in completely opposite directions since his commitment. He's stuck on a sinking ship a long way from home and he could have been a hero in his backyard. Obviously hindsight is 20/20. I'd give a little more than a penny to hear his non-PC, actual feelings/thoughts about it all.

I think no matter what, he will be a nice weapon to have and can play. He has one year to prove he can play at the Big 10 level. Time will tell..

An influx of 4 YEAR bigs...could not have asked for more. 4 of our last 5 recruits have been 4 year players (2 guards, 2 bigs), and the 5th is a 3 year big (Sean Harris). Go back to Egolf and Thompson, and you've got even more 4 year bigs. JL may have been peeved at the DR article about too many JUCO's, but his recruiting actions speak louder than words...and I love it. This is how you build a program - with four year guys who will grow into men right before our eyes.

What 2 guards? If you count Norris and McCain its more than 5... Brown, Prosser, Wilkins, MK, thats four 4-year big men right there... Throw in the two guards and thats 6 of the last 7... And Sean Harris can count as .5!

                        I'll be honest...I have lost count...you are 100% right

                        McCain
                        Norris
Milos (he will be know only as MILOSH!)
                        Brown
                        Prosser
                        Wilkins

4 year guys...this is how you build a consistent winner, a perennial title contender. I really, really like the direction we're going recruiting-wise. It's the best it has been in the JL era. FYI - This is where we're really seeing the benefits of the Sweet 16. SM, WE, and AT were direct products of that, and they'll play major roles on this year's team that will win 20 games. The rest of the guys are products of the Sweet 16 and success the past 2 seasons. The window isn't closing...it's just opening.

So do we guess that JL goes after a shooting guard that can learn from AW! Is there anyway that we could land a Hawkins?

                            Well said, amckillip.
And congratulations on landing a job locally.
I was thinking the same thing about the string of 5 big man recruits in a row, just when we needed to restock with some good inside players.
Will JL land a couple quality guards and wings ith the other scholarships he has left? I think we all know the answer to that.
This staff works harder at recruiting and developing recruiting connections (which takes years to do) than anyone, and they will get it done. The future looks very good.

Hopefully a wing or even combo guard that can shoot the three and has the ability to create his own shot... I can see a few people who might meet that description...
