I think the real reason Iowa State backed out of this year's contest was because they wanted to.

That's pretty limited evidence, but it suggests something about his recruiting ability. So there's really no light at the end of the tunnel here and he's looking at entering year four starting over STILL. Thoughts?
I suspect McDermott has at least until the end of 2009-10 to get the ship righted. As per McDermott's recruiting, he has picked up a top 30 recruit in Craig Brackins, a top 150 recruit in Diante Garrett, a top 150 recruit in Lucca Staiger, a top 150 recuit in Scott Christopherson and a top 150 recruit in Jordan Dykstra. He has not consistently landed top talent but he is getting enough now that if he can land the right role players with them, ISU can get things turned around. We have been very bad the last two years, but I expect that to start changing this year.

and I hope Cyclone fans have fun hammering California-Davis, Mississippi Valley State, Jacksonville State, SIUE and Houston Baptist....
if you win 'em all it still won't get your RPI under 100.
That depends on how we do when we play Kansas, Texas, Baylor, etc in the conference. Our non-conference RPI can be horrible and we still can raise it up drastically if we win games in the Big 12. If we don't win Big 12 games, we don't deserve postseason play so who cares what our SOS was?

Congratulations! But now can he keep them at ISU?

"They are still years away from being any better than the middle of the pack in the MVC."

If we sweep Drake and UNI does that statement still hold true?

Let's see if that happens first. I think Drake has a good chance to beat you and UNI will toward the bottom IMO.

You are right, the team has to DO IT, but I was just wondering if it does happen if tornado will admit that ISU is not as far from turning the corner as he thinks. Drake may well get us, but I like our chances in Hilton and I think we match up well with the Panthers, but they always have extra ummph against McDermott.
