  • Bradley MVC Schedule Announced

all I can say is wow...

PEORIA, Ill. -- The Bradley men's basketball team will find the 18-game Missouri Valley Conference schedule a tough road to navigate in the beginning as the Braves will start the league race by playing five of their first eight games on the road, concluding with a stretch of three consecutive road games, according to the release of the conference schedule by The Valley office Monday afternoon.

We have the home game vs ISU during break...

    complete schedule
    Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

What's even worse is that we have two road games with UNI! Apparently, Bradley will be playing a home game against UNI at Cedar Rapids, Iowa on February 3, where they are also playing a road game on January 21!

One of those is either MSU or WSU. Right now, it has BU playing @ MSU and @ WSU on Saturday, January 3. What a day that would be!

        My Bad on the Schedule

Hey guys, my apologies for a couple of the gaffes in the schedule as it was originally posted on the web this evening. Tried to enter the games in haste and did not proof it properly. The PDF version of the release also includes the schedule on the second page.

I like the schedule.......we should be able to start the MVC games with a couple of wins and then we have a great chance of winning the last four MVC games and then head into the MVC tournament on a roll.........

This is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever seen. My senior year and we won't even be allowed to stand in the student section for the most exciting game of the year. My disappointment with this years schedule is complete. I know this didn't have everything to do with us. But this is the one thing JL should have fought tooth and nail to avoid... Gah, I'm furious.

The three home games we need the best crowd at are all over BU's break!!! How is this acceptable? SIU, ISU and CU. We won't have a good opponent at Carver the entire time students are in session. I always try to take people to a good game their first BU game, that's not gonna happen this year.

I am curious about the coincidence of CU, ISU and SIU all during winter break. I don't believe the MVC had it in for Bradley to schedule it like that. Yea, CU is gonna have a mark on their back and everyone is gonna want one of their best crowds which includes students. So we just get an unlucky break there.

Maybe SIU is an unlucky break as well because of their success the past 10 years and everybody wanting their students in attendance.

But honestly, our "rivalry" game is ISU. Maybe SIU's got a bigger rivalry with Mo St. (just trying to think it out a little, putting E'Ville and Indy St as rivals, the Iowa schools as rivals and the 'outer rim' schools CU and WSU as rivals)

So I am disappointed with the ISU game during break.

But now I am wondering about the student tickets going unclaimed. Don't they go to the general public on game day or something? Now a $1 ticket becomes a $9 or higher ticket. I gotta believe many local fans without season tickets would be happy to grab a decent seat on game day. They'd be more willing to catch SIU, CU and ISU during break than say UNI, Indy St and Wichita St. (more revenue?)

Then again... there could also be a strong showing for some ISU fans.

Eesshhh.... could make for an interesting crowd.

The big problem with the games over break are the unrealistic thought processes of whoever plans for these games. J/K, but I'm with AMCKILLIP here, I got EXTREMELY frustrated last season, especially during the game vs. VCU. What happens is the entire student section is sold as regular arena tickets for $12/seat. However, they still sell the student tickets for $1, and the either you get 20 students that are in a group go down to their normal seats and get looked down on and yelled at by people that aren't even wearing red for standing or taking "their seats". So the 20 students in a group get relegated by the athletic department to go stand in a corner...While the rest of students that aren't gone on break are spread throughout the arena.

I think we should get some people to push for at least a couple of rows in the student section for some of those games. I don't think anyone realizes how many students actually live in Peoria(myself) or don't spend all 5 weeks of break out of state and off campus.

Stryker, I think you make some good points.

There are some local students for Bradley, and there are some local students for ISU. Add in many alumni of Bradley and ISU in the area, along with fans from 2 very close towns. Sprinkle them in together, beers a flowing at $5 a pint, and it could get quite interesting.

This sounds like something which could be pushed up the (correct) channels and chain of command to the powers-that-be so it can be considered and addressed.

It just irked me that the students were ignored during break and were "supposed" to be "gone on break".

I hate the world right now. SIU, ISU, and CU over the break is just awful for students. If student attendance has been a problem in the past, it could be dismal this year. Last year, Michigan St and ISU got the whole school fired up. This year there is going to be nothing like that. Yes the hardcore students will be going to all the games. But the others...

Bobby and Searby have their work cut out. Expect the lowest Student attendance in the last 3 years. Thanks MVC...

Wow, I am trying to stay positive about this schedule, as one of the more dedicated student fans who's family lives 6000 miles away from Peoria (don't ask) and already has plane tickets for the winter break I am livid.

I honestly expect attendance to drop around 1000 OR MORE this year. I hope the people in charge take notice.
