    The Valley

Since it is called the "Missouri" Valley I say they expand to 16 teams like the BIG East and add SLU, UMKC, SouthEast Missouri State, Butler, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville/SIUE (they just moved up to DI from DII), and just for fun kickout Wichita State and replace them with Washington University St. Louis (hey, they won the DIII championship last year). Syracuse has an advantage by playing the tourney at the Garden every year so you could still keep ARCH Madness at the dome in the Lou.

I am thinking he must have meant St. Johns, who plays some of their home games at MSG.

my geography is all off...well if you want to get technical St. John's has the biggest advantage b/c MSG is less than 30min away.

But you're right about St. Johns having a home-court advantage. I didn't remember how many games they play at Madison Square Garden, so I checked their schedule from last year--

They played 7 of their 16 home games there last year. The other 8 were played at their on-campus arena.

There are other examples as well, of conferences playing their postseason tournament on a member's home court. It is a huge advantage for that team.

              Mmmm

You could say Missouri State has a little advantage as Springfield is only about 3 hours away from St. Louis. Plus alot of the their players are from St. Louis or around that area. I say they move the tourney to a real basketball arena instead of a football dome. MMM...how about the United Center in Chicago. A neutral site for everyone and it would help Bradley's recruiting in the Chicago area.

I would personally love it if the tourney moved to Chicago, i'm from there and could also save on some hotel costs! But the Scottrade Center is just as much of a real basketball arena as the United Center. Both are really hockey arenas (like Carver). The football dome in St Louis is the Edward Jones Dome, and the Rams play there, but not the MVC Tournament.

                  Chicago

Chicago was largely indifferent to the Big Ten Tournament, that's why it has been permanently moved to Indianapolis. It would be a disaster to put the MVC Tourney there.

Oakland will be very good this year. Big and physical. Even though their record may not be flashy going into conference play, they are the real Summit dark horse this year. They feature a big kid that turned down considerable money in Europe and will be an instant league force.

I'm not opposed to BU taking those types of games. I'm an Anyone. Anytime. Anywhere. type of scheduling fan in terms of building exposure. Always have been. The tougher the better.

There is no team in the the MVC that can match up to us the whole game, if our bigs come to play! BU will win the the MVC this year!

This is the same strategy that John Calipari implemented at UMASS and it worked out well for his teams.

John Chaney at Temple also employed the same philosophy and it worked for him for years. They would go into their conference games at around .500, and end the regular season with 18 wins and make it to the dance year in and year out.

Gonzaga will also play anyone, anywhere!
