Anybody know any more on this?

Seems like we won't be given a chance to win the Tournament even if we win our first road game.

    Couple links for the CBE:

Looks like we need to beat MSU and Syracuse/Florida or at least win all the other games on the non-con schedule to have a good RPI going into conference season.

This wiki article seems to indicate we would have a chance to advance, but would not be expected to--

Hmm, that does seem strange. Here's the history of the CBE:

          http://www.gazellegroup.com/events/cbe/results.htm

In the 2006 CBE, Air Force advanced from the Stanford regional, so it seems to be possible. The listing on the Bradley website is also strange in the sense that BU will be playing another game in the regional, win or lose, and that game isn't listed. I wonder when they'll announce which regional Bradley ends up in...

By the way, sorry for overreacting a few days ago - I took that post way too seriously. Hopefully I can learn to have a little more humor on this board, which has always been very civil. I do think we'll continue to disagree about a certain team, but isn't that what sports forums are all about?

Sweet. Hoping for Florida so I can go and I'll try to make it at Ft. Meyers.

Guys, I don't think that is the case this year. . .

Since Kentucky lost in the tourney they were in last year, I think they pre-arranged the semis to include Florida, Syracuse, Kansas, and Washington to guarantee enough interest and the big reason for the delays have been figuring out what to do to guarantee the maximum number of games for participants.

In previous years, it's been single elimination, and the first round losers played.

This year, it looks like they are trying to lineup good first round matchups for the BCS teams guaranteed to advance, which means there may be a TV opportunity for BU.

Cleveland State has released they are playing the exact same teams we are during those dates, so I would guess that there is going to be 6 teams in Fort Myers.

BU, Cleveland St, and Tubee Named Later U. all taking turns against Richmond, FGCU, and UMKC, but looking at their posted schedule today, they only have FGCU listed. . .

That'd be some weak stuff on Gazelle's part... But I have a suspicion you're right, squirrel. Either way need to get in there and pound our BCS opponent.

There is no team in the the MVC that can match up to us the whole game, if our bigs come to play! BU will win the the MVC this year!

I must be dim. I don't get the format of this CBE thing. They supposedly have 16 teams, divided into four regions of four teams each. They've got BU in with Richmond (could be a good game), FGC, UMKC or whatever. So that's 4. So where do Florida and Syracuse fit in? And if the four are playing for the right to eliminate Syracuse, then why are those games before the round robin? Totally lost. And inclined not to like it.

In the past, again, the CBE had been a single-elimination tournament with four major programs hosting four schools. The winners would advance, and the losers were guaranteed a 2nd game vs. the other 1st round loser.

The 2nd round winners would advance to the semis in KC.

There would be semifinals, a 3rd place game, and championship.

1st round losers were still guaranteed 2 games, teams advancing to KC 4 games.

The 2K Classic is another tourney that follows the same format, and where Kentucky lost on their home floor to Gardner-Webb last year.

Many of these tourneys are moving to a "pre-arranged" matchups. For instance, a couple years ago when we played Illinois in the CCI, we could have been guaranteed a game with them for the championship, even if UIUC ended up losing to Miami. . .as silly as that may seem.

However, this year, it is unclear if the 4 major sites or "regionals" are single-elimination or not. Given what happened to Kentucky last year, it would appear on the surface that this years CBE may be designed to automatically advance the four "major" teams to KC, even if one of them lose their home court 1st round game.

And it looks like they are pooling the rest of the schools to campus sites for round-robin play guaranteeing 3 extra games.

Yuck. That is a pretty underwhelming non-con schedule.

Agreed, two big games, one OK game with Butler and thats it. If we have more than 3-4 losses I'm gonna be very upset.

Not the best sked, but the things I like about it:

-Teams get rewarded for winning games away from home. There are 6 games away from home not including the BB.

-Anything less than 9-2 would be a real disappointment. This is a schedule full (with the obvious exceptions) of teams we can and should beat anywhere, anytime.

-Catching Syracuse or Florida so early in the season we have a real good opportunity to surprise them. This is not a typical game 1, 2, or 3 for those schools.

-I like FGCU. . .a program that will be a quick riser in the DI ranks, and maybe we can get them back to Peoria next year in a non-tourney game. FGCU is also playing a very good non-con schedule this year.

-The general weakness of the rest of our non-con though could greatly diminish our RPI with any mis-steps. For the RPI to work in your favor, you have to play good teams from good leagues. . .2 A-Sun and 2 OVC could greatly hurt. . .

I agree, I think the only losses we can really afford to have is at MSU and the Syracuse/florida match up. If we lose to Butler(we shouldn't) that would hurt, and if we lose to anyone else we could be in REAL trouble RPI wise.
