• ISU(red) gets a verbal...

6'7" Jon Ekey has verballed to ISU red

    Saw it on Valley Talk...

Also a thread a ISU's board regarding him...

Looks like Scout has him as a 3 Star and Rivals 0 stars- unless I am looking at something wrong.

ISU has two other scholarships available for 09. Not 3 more.

Is this because Kellen Thornton (sp?) is getting a schollie next year?

        Yes.

That fact must have slipped by Tornado.

Not a bad get, hope he works out nicely for the birds... In non-conference season only though... Looks like he may spend some time matched up against JP...

Honestly though, if JP's Jumper is as good as it seems to be we may have lots of matchup advantages. It's hard to tell seeing him play in High School, because he is obviously better than everyone else(not AAU, I can't really see those gaems), but he seems to be very well-rounded and will be able to take advantage of most defenders in some fashion or another.

andy, we gotta get a group of people together for some of JP's games this upcoming season. i think it would be cool if a crowd of Bradley t-shirts showed up every game.

I can't go to every game but I have a couple 3 guys who want to go to a few, we'll talk.
Ekey was rated 40th best player in Missouri
                      http://mosports.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=800940
Looks like that list included juniors and seniors. Would be interesting to see how many of them were a year older than Ekey.

Pantagraph says Ekey's coach feels that Justin Clark is close to verballing to ISU as well. He is #15 on the list, but only a junior, so will probably move up that list as well.

This story reminds me of a young medical resident I spoke with who was from Lagos, Nigeria.
As he was training in America to be a doctor, he often wondered out loud,
"Why do the American people so often complain about things, even terribly minor things?
Even the richest people where I come from, don't have all that your poorest have..."

I have never forgotten that and it's a good lesson for us...

Oh, and as for cpacmel's little jab at me here's one for you guys....

On the main thread about your new recruit, Jon Ekey, who hails from Independence, MO,
                          your poster says...
"Looks like Jank continues to focus on state of Kansas...."

Maybe your guys need a geography lesson, as Kansas is close to Missouri but landing a player from
Independence, MO does not constitute landing one from Kansas!
                          http://www.redbirdfan.com/msgforum/v...hp?f=2&t=10185
Probably because be plays on the KC Pump N' Run AAU team (current/incoming Redbird Freshman Ty Modupe played on the same team and was from Kansas)

Ekey's teammate also verballed to Illinois State

Justin Clark is following his high school teammate to Illinois State to play basketball. | Chrisman High School's Ekey commits to ISU

Justin Clark, a 6-4 guard from Chrisman High School in Independence, Mo., announced Wednesday morning he will sign a national letter of intent with ISU in November. Earlier in the week, Chrisman 6-7 guard/forward Jon Ekey gave ISU coach Tim Jankovich a verbal commitment.

Clark led the state of Missouri in scoring last season with a 25.6 scoring average.

I get the feeling that the war of 74 might be making a comeback soon. Both teams seem to be raising the recruiting bar.
