I was at a St. Louis area BU Alumni function over the weekend and Dave Snell spoke to the group. He mentioned that the Braves will be playing a road game this year either AT Florida or AT Syracuse.
It would probably be that same week the Top of the World Classic was scheduled, November 16-23.
It isn't official yet, but the fact that Dave Snell is talking publically about it makes it seem likely it will be announced soon.
The last time we played at Syracuse was in the NIT with Mitchell & Co. We handled them easily in front of 20,000+. It would be great if we could play at Florida and take them down too. If this tournament that people are implying comes to be - we'll have a good non-conference schedule also playing Butler and Michigan State!
I would imagine it would be Florida. I just can't see Syracuse (who seems to always be on the bubble) would risk a resume-shattering loss to some lowly Valley team.
Using some deductive reasoning, Syracuse and Florida are both hosting sites for the 1st and 2nd rounds of the 16-team CBE classic, a single-elimination (run by the Gazelle Group--the CBI organizers) played on 4 campus sites and then the winners of the first two rounds move on to Kansas City.
Last year, I believe two non-DI's participated.
This means we likely wouldn't see either UF or SU until the 2nd round.
I'm not sure off hand, but I think the losers get a 2nd game against each other at the neutral site, but after that they're done. So I think you get at least 2, and 4 if you win the first two.
Dave Snell would be a very reliable source for this type of info as the media needs as much notice as possible to make travel arrangements. I have been doing some surfing and cannot get much info on this years tourney. Washington is playing their games at the Bank of America arena in Seattle. I think this means that the four seeded teams have regionals with the winner going to Kansas City. If this is the case the logical site for BU would be at the home of KU, not SU or FU. Anyhow it sounds like an oppertunity for some high level exposure and I hope it works out.

KU doesn't play in Kansas City. They play in Lawrence, Kansas.
I realize that, but if you look at the post I quoted, it says "home of KU." This has caused me much confusion and consternation because I NEVER want to play KU again. I want to hang that game over my KU-grad brother in law for the REST OF HIS LIFE!!!!

Think about what you could do with back-to-back wins against KU!

I agree. I never want to play KU again unless it's in Peoria. We're 2-0 all-time against them. Let's keep it that way.
Well, this would be great if we could get this game on our schedule. I'm for either team, though Florida would be better considering their recent success.
That would just be a darn shame if some team walked into Gainesville or Syracuse and won 2 games and screwed up the final four of the CBE classic.
For a last-minute thing, getting a quality road game is good. Of course, we'll either mess it up and lose the first game, or we'll win the whole danged thing.
