  • 2005 Minnesota Mr. Basketball to transfer to U of Minn

College basketball news is pretty sparse right now. Here is news of a Division I transfer.
Scroll about halfway down this article--

Travis Busch was the 2005 Mr. Basketball of Minnesota, edging out Ray Brown. He attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo this past season, but was injured and missed most of the season. He will try for a medical redshirt for last year, and transfer to University of Minnesota as a walk-on. After sitting out next year, he should have 3 more years of eligibility. He had a great high school career, and is known as a very good defensive player, which should make Coach Mo happy.

The results of final voting were never officially released, so nobody can document who came in second.

There were prep basketball experts in Minnesota that rated Ray as the #1 player in the state all year. Here are some previous discussions covering that:

Ray was one of the 6 finalists, and was one of 5 runner-ups.

Here is the list of finalists with their schools for the 2005 Mr. Basketball in Minnesota--
          Travis Bledsoe-De La Salle
          Ray Brown-Richfield
          Travis Brown-Richfield
          Travis Busch-Mounds View
          Urele Igbavboa-Tartan
          Josh Vaughn-Braham

In Minnesota, each year they start with a list of 30+ nominees and trim them down to 5 or 6 finalists. Travis Busch was selected the winner, and the other finalists are all referred to as runner-up. They do not release the order of finish.
