With coaches text messaging recruits being in the news, I was thinking about other new age methods for programs to recruit players. I was thinking, what about myspace.com? Many prospects have their own personal myspace accounts that anyone can view, why not get on their and contact them? I have seen profiles of many top and mid-level recruits on myspace (OJ Mayo, Derrick Rose, Greg Oden, Chase Buddinger, Jerren Shipp, TJ Marion etc) but of course not everyone is who they claim to be, or as good as they claim. I found a guy who claimed to be from chicago, went to simeon high school and than played at western nebraska community college, and he claimed he played against another guy auditioning for a scholarship to Bradley. The only thing is I never heard his name before, Janelle Amene I think it was. Has anyone heard of him? I checked the western nebraska site, and he wasnt on the roster.
But I just thought it was something to look into, Derrick Rose was getting a lot of lobbying for schools in his comments section, and I think he turned his comments off, or set them to private somehow.
