    Recruiting over for this year?

Before we put a close to this season's recruiting we may want to wait and see how everyone fairs after summer semesters - there may yet be room for another! I hope not -but!

This may have been mentioned already, but Brown's father is 6'10". Perhaps Taylor still has some growing to do, as he's already grown an inch since he graduated high school.

This is an interesting addition to the team for a number of reasons.imo

            * He committed to Bradley without visiting the campus which I find a little odd.

            * He had an offer from Iowa State which in some strange way makes me feel a little better about this.

            * I like that we added a forward with the last scholarship.
            B . . . I totally agree about Iowa State . . . to me that's reassuring.

This is not meant as a knock Ben and Brock............... But when we believe that out-recruiting Iowa State is a coup then we are setting our sites too low. Just my opinion.

I'm in agreement. As usual I will just trust the coaching staff on this one, but I still think he is a good recruit. If Brown isn't a star at BU it is ok, I don't think anyone was thinking we needed to land someone spectacular with this last scholarship. Of course we want one, but we will just have to wait and see how he turns out at BU.

Yeah...I've been in college for a while now and I'm pretty sure that awesomest is not a word. -Andrew E.

Guys, this kid is someone that most major coaches didn't even know about, and many who did, did not know he was available for 2008. If they had, he might likely have had a number of other BCS schools pursuing him. So in Taylor's case, please don't make any judgements based on his list of offers. Our coaches got a good look at him (unlike with Saihou), and they liked what they saw. I'll trust them on this decision.

Great. Where else did the coaching staff see him other than this past event in Jonesboro?

Jonesboro is where they saw him.

Braves4life, to me, Taylor is an bit of an unknown commodity as far as basketball players go.imo I cant speak for Brocks, but to me, if a school like an Iowa State was after Taylor, then it also is reassuring that they were on the same page as JL and co. I also dont look at this as a coup. On another thread, I as well as some other posters wanted to use the last scholarship as a "gamble scholie." Sure we are taking a bit of a risk here, but there seems to be a real element of upside so I believe that Taylor is a risk well worth taking.

This will be an interesting recruit to evaluate in a couple of years. There's no doubt that an athletic 6'7" forward can have great success in the Valley. The timing and recent history of this recruit is unorthodox. Taylor Brown's recent history looks like Lance Stemler's at this point (went to a juco but didn't play and then gets a BU scholarship offer).

I was guessing that BU wouldn't bank the scholarship, I just thought they would get a transfer at this point in the process.

Coup? Who said coup? Did somebody say coup? Ben . . . did you say coup? I don't think I said coup.

He had a BCS offer. That is good to see. That makes me feel better. Nuff said.

Low risk guy here. Sounds like the right thing to do. If they guy averages 15 minutes a game as a junior and senior then it was a smart move. There are 13 scholarships. Not all of them will be starters.
