I understand what you are saying, but these people are professionals in their field. Right? ESPN loses all kinds of credibility (in my mind) when things like this happen. I won't settle for the BS excuse they are under a deadline. Do your job, which includes full research. Just about EVERYBODY KNOWS OB is a top Center if not THE top Center in this years draft. And this crap that it is one reporter's opinion... then this reporter should have his arse chewed by his boss for misreporting opinions of ESPN. ESPN has OB as the #8 pick in their mock draft but they've got a 'drive-by media' reporter saying there are at least 5 Centers better than him. Give me a break - there has to be more organization than this.

And frankly, IMO, ESPN's credibility is suspect anyway. How did they get their credibility? They went out and bought it and self-proclaimed it - all the while, we see examples like this showing how little credibility they actually possess.

Sorry BUBravesMan, not picking on you. Guess you gave me the fuel I needed to get on my soapbox.

I read this week in a Doyel column, that he is no longer going to be writing as a college basketball writer, but is going to become a "general sports columnist".

" ...don't go looking for me here on the college basketball page. This is the last Ten for Tuesday before my roundly criticized, probably foolish move to general sports columnist takes effect."

It's a nice promotion for Greg Doyel.

I saw this article last week.

So WHO gets Doyel's soapbox to brainwash the public with their 'drive-by media' style?

Great quote from Chad Ford's blog about one of the hottest center prospects in this draft. Some are even calling him a candidate for a top pick, but here's another view, which jives with some things I have been told:

"I think Patrick is an interesting prospect," another GM said. "But he's a late lottery prospect, not a high lottery one. I've followed him all year. I think he has a long ways to go. It's going to require a lot of hard work for a kid like that to make it in this league. From what I've seen and heard, I'm not sure he's going to put in the effort it takes to become great. Why would you risk it with the No. 1 pick? He's the type of kid, like Kwame Brown or Michael Olowokandi, who can get you fired. You see the size and talent, and you fall in love. But kids like this can break your heart."

In Doyel's final 10 for Tuesday, he lists his projected top 10 NBA draft picks for next year.

              First 6 are ALL centers.

              Noah at #6.

              7 Centers, 1 PG, 1 6'8" Wing and 1 6'4" Wing.

I heard next year's draft was gonna be loaded with Centers and it is no surprise to see OB go this year. But my goodness - I didn't know how loaded it was. Those 7 Centers next year all sound great!

OB is indeed a VERY smart young man as well as a talented player.

Thanks for the link, MM. I read those projected 2007 Top 10 draft picks, and with my limited knowledge, I still have some differences with Doyel's projections.

High schoolers don't always pan out as expected once they get to college. Everyone expected Brandon Rush and Julian Wright to dominate at Kansas, and though they were pretty good, they were not instant NBA'ers. I do expect Greg Oden to be as good as expected, but Hawes, Durant, and Brendan Wright haven't proven anything yet to think they will be NBA material next year. And Hasheem Thasbeet is listed from 7' to 7'3", but he is rail thin and has limited skills. He has only played basketball for 3 years, and only 1 in the US. He played at a tiny private high school, and fouled out a lot. I don't see him going that high.
I expect a number of other good prospects will emerge in college next year, not just the youngsters Doyel lists. And Mario Chalmers? He wasn't even the best point guard on his own team!

You said it all. I've got nothing to add to that. I just hope that I get to watch some of the games of whomever drafts him. (I wish it was somehow going to be the Bulls)

Coby Karl is only a junior at Boise State, and is not projected by anyone to go in the 2nd round, but if George has his way, he'd like to be coaching his son. Even more startling is that Coby Karl was just diagnosed with cancer is is just now undergoing his 2nd round of chemotherapy.

This article makes a glaring mistake in saying that son Coby Karl has prostate cancer, as it was father George Karl who underwent treatment last fall for prostate cancer.

                          Saer Sene

After watching these clips and reading what the Bulls have to say about Sene I'm afraid he may go before POB. He loooks like a beast. Reminds me of a raw Ewing/Olajuan (sp)

I'd really love to see him go head to head with POB at these workouts. Maybe I'm just underestimating "Big Peezy"
