The Portland Trail Blazers have agreed to a deal with the New Orleans Hornets to acquire the 27th pick in the draft for cash considerations, a Blazers source told ESPN.com.
This is extremely interesting. Portland is the youngest team in the league and has very good players in Roy, Aldridge and Outlaw and that isnt even including Oden who missed all of last season.
4 picks 2 first rounders, I wonder if they are trying to get in the top 5 and have a team who wants to back out of the lotto and pick up late picks to stash players in Europe for a few year... IE saving rookie contract money. This has Memphis or Clipper written all over it.
Rumors are swirling around these parts (PDX) about a move up for Russell Westbrook. Also Devin Harris and Leondro Barbosa are being talked about. I would love to see Devin Harris in a Blazers uniform as they are a defensive minded point away from really competing.
Personally, I love how Kevin Pritchard is stock piling assets to go after blatant needs (read Point Guard). This team is really fun to watch, by NBA standards at least, and the past two drafts have been owned by Portland (potentially the three best players the last two years). It also makes an otherwise boring time in sport more exciting (Not including Euro 2008 )
