  • Greg McDermott lands a big man

Iowa State head coach Greg McDermott just got a committment from Craig Brackins,
a 6'10" teammate of Xavier Crawford's at Chicago Boys to Men.
Oddly, after a pretty successful junior season at BTM his junior year, he is now leaving and going to Brewster Academy in New Hampshire. This is interesting since McDermott has already gotten a commitment from Bloomington's Dodie Dunson, who also comes to Iowa State from Brewster.
Could all this mean Brackins is preparing for the possibility that NCAA may declare the credits from BTM as less than satisfactory, so he's switching to a more reputable prep school?

Craig Brackins is rated the #49 best player in the US according to HoopMasters. Nice pickup by Iowa State.

With Bradley's 3 year deal with Iowa State, Xavier Crawford could end up playing against his former teammate from Boys to Men.

So why is Craig Bracking leaving Boys to Men and transferring to a different prep school for his senior year?
He started in Lancaster, California, spent two years there, then did not play basketball at all the entire year of 2004-2005 (because of academics).
Then he came to Boys to Men and reclassified as a junior even though it was his fourth year in high school.
Now he's moving on to Brewster.

So that when BTMA is shut down, or put on the list of unacceptable schools, he hopes to avoid being ruled a non-qualifer.
