Dwayne Lathan appeared in 30 games for Louisiana Tech (6-24) last year as a freshman,
averaging 8.2 ppg (not at all bad for a freshman), 3.9 rpg, in 21 minutes per game.
He had an overall 41% FG% and shot a less-than-impressive 29.8% from 3 pt on 17-57.
His assist to turnover ratio (he's combo guard/SG so this should be around 1:1 or better)
was 14/52...0.269. -

but if we get a shooting guard he has to shoot better than 29.8% from 3-pt

Lathan had a mediocre freshman year against an extremely weak schedule... his offensive rating was 89.4 with a usage rate of 25.4% (which is awfully high for such a low efficiency). His assist rate was incredibly low (5.7) - that's more of a number you'd associate with a center. He's purely a shooting guard, not a combo, and seems to be a real chucker. As tornado mentioned, he shot 29.8% from three, and 46% from inside the arc, so is a mediocre shooter.
On the plus side, he rebounded very well for a guard (7.3 OR%, 15.9 DR%), and seems to be a good defender, with good block and steal rates. Overall, he sounds to me like a raw, athletic player that should probably learn a little more restraint shooting the ball. His overall numbers say that he plays like more of a forward than a guard, but he's only 6'3'', 185. It seems like there's some potential for Lathan to be a good player, but he's definitely not there yet.Comment

Since freshmen can sometimes take part of their first season to adjust to the college game, I took a look at Lathan's stats for conference games only. His offensive rating was a much more respectable 96.1, with a shot percentage of 27.1% (meaning he took 27.1% of the shots when he was on the floor - a very high number). His rebounding rates remained excellent (8.2 OR%, 17.5 DR%), and he got his turnovers more under control. His steal and block rates remained good.
So, most of what I said before is still valid, but it's important to note that he did show improvement as the year went on. His numbers can't be expected to translate directly to the MVC, as the WAC is several notches below in level of competition, but Lathan sounds like a guy that could eventually be a good player for Indiana State.Comment
