  • Jordan Prosser

Very interesting discussions about Jordan Prosser on some of the Big Ten boards.

Some Illini fans say Jordan early on would have jumped at a chance to go to U of I but is fed up waiting for an offer. Now Prosser seems to be criticizing Illinois without giving any specifics or reasons, but slams them saying they are not honest.
........Illinois/Bruce Weber are showing little or no interest presently in Prosser....

One post even says Prosser can't understand why Illinois locks in on far inferior recruits but doesn't want him....(by a guy who claims he knows Prosser personally)
"he and his family were also badmouthing Bill Cole and Mike Davis and Mike Tisdale and Richard Semrau at times around the locale this past year...saying they "weren't very good"."

Stay up to date with all the Iowa Hawkeyes sports news, recruiting, transfers, and more at 247Sports.com

It is a premium article, but here are a few tidbits..........and keep in mind, Iowa has NOT yet offered Prosser according to some recruiting services, but these guys say they have....HOWEVER even Jordan says he isn't quite sure....note his wording
"I think I have an offer..."

...but some of the Iowa posters on their board think Iowa seems to be jerking him around as a fall-back option.........

"Iowa High on Prosser's List of Choices"

Iowa is working hard to add big men to its roster and one of the main targets is 2009 recruit Jordan Prosser. The Illinois prep has visited the Iowa City campus on several occasions and has held a scholarship offer from the Black and Gold since last season. With a likely decision of his college choice coming in the next few months, read what Prosser says about his recruitment in this HN update.

.........I think I have an offer.”

Iowa has company in the pursuit of the talented Eureka (Ill.) High big man. He holds offers from Wisconsin, Indiana, Baylor, Notre Dame, Providence, Southern Illinois, Illinois State, Bradley and Xavier.

“I like it up there because I’ve grown up around the Big Ten,” Prosser said of Iowa. “I like the place. It’s not too far from home. It’s like two hours and 20 minutes.”

Prosser (6-8, 220) said he would like to announce his college choice before his senior year of high school begins, sometime in late August. He isn’t ranking the schools that are interested in him, but says the Hawkeyes are “towards the top.”

“I think I can come in and contribute as a four man instead of five,” Prosser said of his interest in Iowa. “That’s what I want to play in college. They already have one five guy in the ’09 class. I think that I can get in and play early; like come in my freshman year and contribute.”

Prosser said that he has unofficially visited most of the schools that have offered him a scholarship.

Prosser had been on the radar of a lot of mid-majors before the majors started climbing on board last spring and summer.

“He’s just been getting better every year,” Eureka High Coach Tim Meiss said. “He made big strides in the last year and the recruiting has really perked up.”

“He’s just a solid kid with a great personality,” Meiss said. “He’s responsible and none of this has gone to his head. We went to a shootout last week and played a school with an enrollment of about 100. He gave us the same effort has he always does.”

Prosser said that he would like to work on his ball handling, become more consistent on his 3-point shot and increase his strength.

“He’s got an element of toughness,” Meiss said. “He runs the court well and has a soft jumper. It’s not something he does a lot, but he can step out and hit the three.”

Prosser said that he has not scheduled any official visits yet, but said that he would “most likely” officially visit Iowa.

“I’m not sure I’ll take all of my officials,” Prosser said. “I’ve seen a lot on my unofficials. I’m not going to waste anybody’s time if I’m not interested or I don’t feel they’re interested.”

One such school could be the University of Illinois despite Eureka and Champaign only being about 75 miles apart.

“I don’t have an Illinois offer, but it’s not really a place that I like,” he said. “I feel like they’re not very honest in their recruiting.”

Maybe Jordan Prosser should look at how horrible Iowa is scheduling, and note that they are going to be really bad for the next several years!

Jordan will really love playing against top opponents like Bryant University and the Citadel, if they schedule like this in 2009.

Ahhh forget that T... If Prosser were to sign at BU, and if he is as good as people think, then he has the chance to be a local legend which will open up opportunites for him long after his playing days.

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

Did Iowa leave the Big Ten or will they still get to play cup cakes like Wiconsin and Michigan St.?
        Can we start winning soon?

I don't know about him, but if I were in his position I'd want to win. I don't have fun unless I'm winning. I wouldn't care if I'm playing Wisconsin or Mich. St. if my team is getting pounded. I'm not necessarily saying JP should come to Bradley (which would be great) but I think he could do better than a team like Iowa who will be struggling for a while. I agree with Tornado.

Go for a winning team Prosser!!

Do you have more fun joining a winner or making a team a winner? I assume that Prosser is or thinks he is good enough to make Iowa a winner. That is even more fun then jumping on the bandwagon.

              There are competing thoughts....

Some guys (like Derrick Rose, Sherron Collins, Brandon Rush, John Scheyer...) who are TOP talents and can kinda pick among many options,
made it known they wanted to go where they could be competing year in and year out for a title, or at least the Final Four.

Some who are slightly lesser talents and who may sit the bench behind bigger stars if they aim too high, want to go where they can be pretty assured of immediate playing time, such as Verdell Jones.

I would love to see Jordan Prosser at Bradley as he is likely to get immediate PT and have a great time, even if he doesn't end up in a Final Four.
Most of Prosser's offers come from schools that are not all locks to be Final Four participants in the next few years anyway.

Jordan is a great kid and I would love to follow him as he wears a BU uniform......

Hope the best for him no matter where he goes though....just like Matt Roth and all our local talent....

I kind of doubt some of what has been quoted him saying...

I've got a feeling Mr. Prosser will be a Wisconsin Badger. Nothing to back that statement up. Just a hunch.

I believe Wisconsin has no scholarships available for 2009, and have already gotten commitments from a couple players similar to Prosser. However, in one earlier article, Prosser is quoted as saying Wisconsin has asked him to hold off committing and maybe something will open up.
