Very interesting discussions about Jordan Prosser on some of the Big Ten boards.
Some Illini fans say Jordan early on would have jumped at a chance to go to U of I but is fed up waiting for an offer. Now Prosser seems to be criticizing Illinois without giving any specifics or reasons, but slams them saying they are not honest.
........Illinois/Bruce Weber are showing little or no interest presently in Prosser....
One post even says Prosser can't understand why Illinois locks in on far inferior recruits but doesn't want him....(by a guy who claims he knows Prosser personally)
"he and his family were also badmouthing Bill Cole and Mike Davis and Mike Tisdale and Richard Semrau at times around the locale this past year...saying they "weren't very good"."
It is a premium article, but here are a few tidbits..........and keep in mind, Iowa has NOT yet offered Prosser according to some recruiting services, but these guys say they have....HOWEVER even Jordan says he isn't quite sure....note his wording
"I think I have an offer..."
...but some of the Iowa posters on their board think Iowa seems to be jerking him around as a fall-back option.........
"Iowa High on Prosser's List of Choices"
Iowa is working hard to add big men to its roster and one of the main targets is 2009 recruit Jordan Prosser. The Illinois prep has visited the Iowa City campus on several occasions and has held a scholarship offer from the Black and Gold since last season. With a likely decision of his college choice coming in the next few months, read what Prosser says about his recruitment in this HN update.
.........I think I have an offer.”
Iowa has company in the pursuit of the talented Eureka (Ill.) High big man. He holds offers from Wisconsin, Indiana, Baylor, Notre Dame, Providence, Southern Illinois, Illinois State, Bradley and Xavier.
“I like it up there because I’ve grown up around the Big Ten,” Prosser said of Iowa. “I like the place. It’s not too far from home. It’s like two hours and 20 minutes.”
Prosser (6-8, 220) said he would like to announce his college choice before his senior year of high school begins, sometime in late August. He isn’t ranking the schools that are interested in him, but says the Hawkeyes are “towards the top.”
“I think I can come in and contribute as a four man instead of five,” Prosser said of his interest in Iowa. “That’s what I want to play in college. They already have one five guy in the ’09 class. I think that I can get in and play early; like come in my freshman year and contribute.”
Prosser said that he has unofficially visited most of the schools that have offered him a scholarship.
Prosser had been on the radar of a lot of mid-majors before the majors started climbing on board last spring and summer.
“He’s just been getting better every year,” Eureka High Coach Tim Meiss said. “He made big strides in the last year and the recruiting has really perked up.”
“He’s just a solid kid with a great personality,” Meiss said. “He’s responsible and none of this has gone to his head. We went to a shootout last week and played a school with an enrollment of about 100. He gave us the same effort has he always does.”
Prosser said that he would like to work on his ball handling, become more consistent on his 3-point shot and increase his strength.
“He’s got an element of toughness,” Meiss said. “He runs the court well and has a soft jumper. It’s not something he does a lot, but he can step out and hit the three.”
Prosser said that he has not scheduled any official visits yet, but said that he would “most likely” officially visit Iowa.
“I’m not sure I’ll take all of my officials,” Prosser said. “I’ve seen a lot on my unofficials. I’m not going to waste anybody’s time if I’m not interested or I don’t feel they’re interested.”
One such school could be the University of Illinois despite Eureka and Champaign only being about 75 miles apart.
“I don’t have an Illinois offer, but it’s not really a place that I like,” he said. “I feel like they’re not very honest in their recruiting.”
