  • 2008 Chicago Invitational Basketball Tournament

This is the tourney that Bradley and University of Illinois played in back in 2006,
then ISU and Indiana played in it in 2007.

This year's (2008-2009) Chicago Invitational will be November 28-29, 2008.
Several teams are already scheduled to participate, and the eight team field presently looks like this........
The only MVC team will be Northern Iowa, and the others are....
Auburn, Dayton, Marquette, Bethune-Cookman, Chicago State, Texas Southern, and Mercer.

Marquette seems to already know their two opponents at the Sears Center (Hoffman Estates), as they are noting on their 2008-2009 schedule that they play Northern Iowa on 11/28, and Dayton (or Auburn) on 11/29.
Dayton will play Auburn, then either Marquette or UNI.

Dayton also released more of their non-conference schedule, as they will play at Creighton this coming year and host Creighton in 2009-2010, and they also host Bethune-Cookman & Mercer as the prelims in the Chicago Invitational.

Was 2006 the first yr. for that tourney? I know it was for the Sears Center as I believe it had just opened. I was there for all the games and had a great time. Well, all but the final 8 mins. of the BU/ UI game. We had a shot at the win but it took a kid from Peoria to come off the bench to help seal it for UI.
There is no team in the the MVC that can match up to us the whole game, if our bigs come to play! BU will win the the MVC this year!
