His Illinois Wolves advanced to the Elite Eight in their 17-U bracket, among all the very best AA teams in the nation.
In the game that got them to the quarterfinals, Sam scored 10 of the 12 overtime points as well as the game winner at the buzzer. Sam's teammates Dmitri McCamey and Evan Turner were both named All Tourney.
