  • David Stern Slams NCAA at NBA Draft Lottery

David Stern just stated that OJ Mayo types of NCAA violations have been going on in college basketball for 30 to 40 years!!!!! He clarified that it is an NCAA vilation, not an NBA violation. He went on to say that if you didn't believe these types of college violations were happenig for that length of time, then he had bridge over in Brooklyn to sell you.

If I was Myles Brand and his cronies, I would be ashamed to show my face back at the office. Why doesn't the NCAA take down a program like IU, USC, Oklahoma and send a message that the NCAA is not a sham.

If more schools were punished then others would try to play more like the rules as there has to be a reason not to cheat .

Stern also gave a back-handed slap to Myles Brand's face when he said how much better it is for NBA team owners now that the "at least 19 and 1 year removed from high school" NBA rule is in place. Why? Because NBA teams have another year to assess a player before they use "valuable" draft picks. So the NBA rule has seriously undermined the NCAA's ability to support true student-athletes ...

CNBC article with some perspective on Stern's comments:
It actually happened before NBA deputy commissioner and COO Adam Silver pulled the cards out of the envelope. It was commissioner David Stern's comments to ESPN reporter Doris Burke when she asked him about the O.J. Mayo agent investigation.
