I don't understand your line of thinking in believing it wouldn't be TCS' father. The "man" (I'll use that term for your sake) says TCS is leaving BU and that he was being "forced out." I would assume Reynolds then places a call to Les to see if this is true. Hey, whaddya know? Les says it is (at least the part about TCS transferring)! In fact, TCS just told Les earlier in the day that he hadn't changed his mind since he did not show up for the workout. It only seems to make sense that the "man" would place this call the day TCS decided to leave.

To answer your second question, the only thing attributed to the "man" in the story is one paragraph saying he made an unsolicited call to the PJS and said TCS was being "forced out."

I'm not sure why you're second-guessing it so much. Do you really think someone is enough of a loon to go out of their way to call the PJS, falsely claim to be TCS dad and then say his son was forced off the team and out of the university? Please. And do you really think that a longtime reporter like DR would just take some unwarranted call from someone without making sure it was the person they say it is?

So it is obvious to me that even the PJ Star wanted "CLARIFICATION" and attempted to reach the man, and were unable.
I personally have doubts as to how they'd have been able to confidently ascertain exactly who the man was that was calling, and thus wanted "CLARIFICATION" and were unable to get it.

I'd say a whole lot of this is confusing, and I choose to remain unconvinced about a lot of what is said, especially the stuff purportedly coming from Cole-Scott's father, and especially when even the journalist was unable to get clarification.

I understand your point, but I find it highly, HIGHLY unlikely that someone would pose as TCS' father and do such a thing and just have it coincidentally occur on the same day TCS told Les he definitely wouldn't be returning. If you call me and say you're tornado, should I take you at your word? Yeah, that only seems reasonable. Now, if you call and say you're Albert Pujols, I might be a little more skeptical.

Almost everything that was said in the story came from Jim Les. Are you unconvinced by what Jim Les is saying about the situation? I'd be shocked if that were the case. Again, the only thing that came from TCS' father was the part about TCS being "forced out."

Also, you still don't understand the difference between a story and a column. Keep working on trying to figure that one out. I'm sure there are still seats available for COM 101 in the fall semester.

I don't understand why he would be forced out if they don't have someone lined up for the scholarship. It wouldn't hurt anything having him on the bench this year. That makes it unlikley to me. I also would be a little less understanding if this is the case. Because he is supposed to be a Senior and it would push back his graduation another year if he transfers. But who knows what is going on besides him and Les.

This will be the most balanced team JL has had and I think has all the right things to take the MV and more!

More balanced than the Sweet 16 team? That team actually had guards, forwards and centers that could all play, and at the same time! That team had the best balance since Les has been at BU and I will be surprised if next year has that type of balance inside and out. Toooooo many unproven players in important roles. We shall see, but your statement is a gigantic leap, but I hope you are right.

Then it confirms that Tyrone Cole-Scott said he wanted to stay at Bradley after an April meeting with Coach Jim Les. Specific workouts were set up to help TCS improve his game, but he failed to show up for the workouts. Shortly after that April meeting, he texted Jim Les that he wanted to transfer, but no action took place until yesterday when they met again, and TCS apparently reiterated his desire to transfer.

So why am I thinking that no one told TCS where the new practice location is? He showed up to a pile of rubble, got fustrated and left.

After reading this article I believe Les, and it appears he has done everything in his power to prove that this was a TCS decision by "holding the paperwork".

Who really knows what went on between TCS and his dad. It's possible the kid was embarrassed and didn't want to admit to his old man that he "quit" on JL and that he didn't want to put in the work required to earn his PT. Purely speculation on my part..............but no kid wants to feel he "let down" his old man, IMO.

My theory on the "forced-out" thing:

What sounds like something to one person may sound differently to another person. My guess is that Les was very upfront with TCS, giving him all the information he needed to know. Say Les told him, "you are going to struggle for playing time unless you make serious improvements. You may want to think about transferring."

That could be interpreted by the player as being "forced-out" when in truth, the intention of the coach is to give the player all the information he needs to make the best decision. I just don't buy the "forced-out" thing. I think it's just a misunderstanding.

TCS was not forced out in any way. Anyone who would use that term simply doesn't know what happened, or is just trying to spew their anti-JL rhetoric. It interesting that TCS is not saying that, either. The door was still open if he wanted to return, and may still be. Jim Les has never forced anyone to leave, just to free up a scholarship.
Every player receives a thorough evaluation and a frank discussion of what they need to do to contribute to the team, and earn playing time. Coach Les really does want the best for each of his players, even if that means it's better for the kid to go elsewhere. But he has never "pulled" any returning player's scholarship.
Even Saihou Jassey was offered a chance to stay with the understanding he would need a lot of extra work to earn any playing time, but he chose voluntarily to transfer to seek a better opportunity. Hopefully TCS will find the right place for himself.

If JL wanted TCS out, he would have forced him out and used his scholarship in the spring signing period, which began in mid-April. The fact that JL didn't is proof enough that there was no 'forcing' of anything.

Not to throw TCS under the bus, but the fact that he didn't show up for an individual workout with the head coach sure makes it sound like he wanted something handed to him rather than earning it.
