I think this will turn out to be a positive for us. Hopefully, as others have suggested, we can get a big who can contribute in 09-10, if not next year. Not to take anything away from TCS, but he was the one guy on the roster I couldn't see contributing much next year. He had moments where he looked like he could be really good (I actually thought he looked quicker than Ruff at times), but I think he'll be better off playing at a lower level.

Cole-Scott leaves BU

There is an article by Dave Reynolds in today's PJ Star with more detailed information about the TCS situation.
For some reason, it is not posted on their website, yet.
But it says:
"Amid confusing circumstances, junior guard Tyrone Cole-Scott has decided to leave the Bradley basketball program".
Then it confirms that Tyrone Cole-Scott said he wanted to stay at Bradley after an April meeting with Coach Jim Les. Specific workouts were set up to help TCS improve his game, but he failed to show up for the workouts. Shortly after that April meeting, he texted Jim Les that he wanted to transfer, but no action took place until yesterday when they met again, and TCS apparently reiterated his desire to transfer.
Then, apparently after TCS's father heard the news from yesterday's press release, he "placed an unsolicited phone call to the Journal Star sports department claiming his son was being "forced out" at Bradley."
However, when the PJS tried to reach TCS's father, he would not return their call. Later, Jim Les denied such a charge, saying he's always wanted TCS to succeed at Bradley, and that the scholarship was still there if he wanted it.

Hmmm...so the reporter gets an unsolicited phone call from the father of TCS, supposedly?
Then I guess everything the man says must be true and is worthy of reporting as fact.....??
Like I said in my earlier post...this whole thing doesn't add up......
If a kid wants to leave, then just leave and cut the controversy, stop telling the press or having your mouthpiece tell the press you're being treated unfairly.......I guess I get a little tired of this stuff......
You had a free $50,000 2-year college education at a top university, and I can't figure what there is about that you can be ungrateful for.

I don't look to place fault...no real reason to.
But it is clear that both parties are going to be better off in the long run, so just part amicably and get on with it.
I am still not over all the the bitterness, accusations, and orchestrating that were displayed in 2003 when Danny Granger left, and of course the press (and a few hold-over WM folks) believed every word the kid said as if it was gospel.

Good luck to TCS ... I hope he lands somewhere where he can finish his schooling and get some quality playing time. Guard minutes are going to be hard to come by next year at BU.
I find it hard to believe that BU is forcing him out. If that was going to happen, it would have taken place before May 12.

BU wouldn't force a guy out this late in the game unless it was discipline or rules related. From everything I heard with TCS, that is NOT the case. While overall it might be better for both parties to go their separate ways right now, TCS wasn't forced to leave. Perhaps the writing was on the wall that playing time would be tough, but that can be looked at as a challenge as well.
I don't really think there's much left out there to get this late in the game recruiting-wise. I guess my preference would be to either bank the scholarship for next year (which will be a VERY important class), or try to find a 4-year big man that might be a redshirt candidate that we can develop.
Wouldn't it be ironic if we banked the scholarship and ended up giving it to Dwight Buycks? After all, it was Buycks' scholarship that TCS ended up with after DB failed to qualify.Onward and Upward!

It would be great if Les could swoop in and pick up a JUCO big man to fill the scholarship. Just looking at the JucoJunction top 200 rankings, here's the best JUCO still available:
19) Ken Bowman, 6'9'', 230, Hutchinson (KS) - 15 pts, 9 rebs, 2 blks
He's considering Arkansas, Kansas, Kansas State, Kentucky, Maryland, St. John's, UNLV, and Washington State. Anybody know if Les is hitting the recruiting trail?

I have heard his game is a lot like Cassin Diggs.

After hearing the comment about Cole-Scott not showing up for his workout I guess he was just not willing to put in the hard work it takes to improve his game; of course his father is going to take his side on this issue so it is in both parties interest to move on as this issue is now over.

Here's the link to the full story:
For what it's worth, the workout isn't the only thing TCS skipped. I was in a class with him this semester and he was absent quite few times toward the end of the semester.

NO JUCO this late in the game!!
Hold on all you JUCO (big man) fans for next yr.! Its to late in the ball game to bring another 2 yr. player in that may end up as Austin did this yr. He wasn't much this yr. and the the story for next yr. is this out on him. Hopefully he can help next yr. more than he did this yr. Theres more than just looking at a JUCO players stats when choosing one. There's the individual himself, how will he fit in the system, his motavation, is he a team player, will he fit in with the other players and most of is he a good student!
We have a good balance team for next yr. and as for our bigs, I'm sure they will be much improved and will get the job done. This will be the most balanced team JL has had and I think has all the right things to take the MV and more!
As for saving the scholarship, for the next yr., not sure if that makes much sense as we will have 4 to give. As for a transfer, unless it would be a outstanding one that may become a real contributor for 3 yrs. forget it. We have one that RSed this yr. in RT. JL recruited him, he has 1 yr. of Div. 1, and has 3 yrs. remaining with 1 yr. in the our system. To me at this point, it only makes sense to give it to him.
