Will could be the "missing link" to our rebounding woes from last year. Sounds like he's taking his offseason conditioning very seriously, and is determined to contribute this year.

Great article and once again what you do in the off-season determines what will happen in the regular season as witnessed by how good of a player JC was the last 2 years of his career at BU.

that article definitely makes me excited to see him next season. if he can be running around at 235 lbs. like he plans, he will be much more effective down low. i also think the shot will come to him next year. good stuff.

Generally the largest improvement for a player happens between his Freshman and Sophmore years. I think this is also true for most JUCO between the Junior and Senior years.

Reading what WE says I honestly extremely excited about how dedicated he seems and how much he wants to improve, that type of attitude and dedication will pay off for him for this and the next two years to come.

I really really hope his dedication is rubbing off on Collins and Austin.

I seat up behind the BU bench and one of the things I look for is how the guys on the bench react towards thier teammates and I can tell you this kid is a team player. Hes not the first to greet the team coming off the floor just because he can't bet (get around) SS to them!! As I said before, I wise he had RS along with AT this yr. as I think it would of done his game good and we would of had him another yr. He has alot of tools that need alot of work but he is a smart kid and will learn fast. Also his shot form looks good, he's shown he's not afraid to let it go (maybe a bit to fast) but it will come. Its also great that he is doing it with the books to!!!
The future looks big with him and AT, he just needs to meet AT for dinner everyday and make sure he is eating ALL his potatos!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great call houston. Heck, just look in our own backyard at Andrew Warren and the drastic improvement he made between his Freshman and Sophmore year. Hopefully Will and Sammy can both have an outstanding summer that will lead to big results next season.

I agree -- and think about who that would all impact (if they all make big leaps after their first year at BU):
                    SamMan
                    Theron Wilson
                    Egolf
                    AT
                    DCollins
                    Austin
                    TCS

Warren already made his big jump (we could only dream for another HUGE improvement -- then he'd wipe the court every game himself!). I don't anticipate a huge difference with SS. Then add in Roberts, Dunson, McCain, Norris... yikes! This could be good, guys... real good. (But no pressure. No over-expectations. Just excited...)

does this correlate with the "sophomore slump" though?

Probably. If the player does not use his off season time to improve his game, is complacent and isnt hungry to improve. Plenty of players regress, some due to injury but my guess is a player regresses because he doesnt stay hungry, teams adjust to his game as it does not expand and that player goes from a prospect to another could have been.

The off season is a time to take advantage of weight training and the ability to work on weaknesses of a players game.

I think this is what is so incredibly important for someone like Austin. He did not use last summer as an opportunity to work on game weaknesses and it showed throughout the season. He was not basketball wise either in a physical sense or a mental sense for the level of play required in Division 1.

He is one player I truely expect if he dedicates himself to improving daily this summer his game should improve by leaps and bounds over what he gave last season.

                          I like this part.....

Keeping his players on track academically has been a focus of Bradley coach Jim Les. Since becoming head coach in 2002, he's graduated all 15 of his seniors.
"First and foremost, we have a tremendous track record of graduating our players," Les said. "Will has done a nice job in the classroom. He is well on his way to being a successful student athlete."

Lets see............in the past 6 seasons, Jim Les has graduated 100% of his seniors, and Gary Williams
(head coach at Maryland) has graduated exactly 0% of his seniors. Now Williams has recruited and
signed Tyreke Evans, who is well known for both his academic shortcomings and his extensive criminal
record that even made Bob Huggins back off!
                            Can anyone say renegade program?

                              Egolf

If Will works his butt off and becomes a productive 4 we will be able to go 4 deep at the 5 spot..If that does in fact happen this team has the potential to be a lot better than last years team!! We will be very deep at guard and also down low if everybody plays their role at the 4&5 spots....The 5 spot is going to be key as we all know,if RA,SS,AT,DC all do their part there is minutes to be had by all to play at high level the whole game in our offense!! Will has the potential to be a mobile 4 with alot of size...If that happens this team becomes very hard to match up with with several different lineup combinations... Will is the key to a very important season coming up for BU!!
