  • Northwestern lands top big man

Kyle Rowley has been rated by most as the top big man in the class of 2009. He is 6'11", and played at Lake Forest Academy. He has committed to Northwestern.
But here is the surprise- he is a good student, and is on track to graduate this spring. So he will become eligible to be reclassified as a 2008 recruit and play next fall at Northwestern. That gives Northwestern an impressive 2008 recruiting class of Rowley, wing Nick Fruendt (Batavia), 6-8 forward John Shurna (Glenbard West), 6-9 Davide??™ Curletti (St. Mary??™s, Michigan) and 6-11 Luka Mirkovic (La Lumier, Indiana)

I know we are talking about an athlete...but don't you have to be a good student to get in to Northwestern?!?
Some see a hopeless end, while others see an endless hope.

Yes, Northwestern does have higher admission standards than most other D1 schools.

Just to clarify- I did not mean to imply that it is a surprise that he is a good student, but that he is reclassifying as a 2008 graduate from 2009. That was unexpected.
