  • Top Juco Players Not Yet Signed

Here is a list of the players from the juco Top 100 who are yet to sign
plus a few who are outside the Top 100 but who may be familiar to some.

I have also listed and highlighted those juco kids who are committed to Valley schools.

NOTE--- these rankings are notoriously inaccurate and regional, as the California kids all play in a different juco association
and get a whole lot less note east of California. Also this list includes only kids who are finishiong junior college (Class of 2008 )
so players such as Dwight Buycks, Leon Powell, Ahmad Grant are not listed, and will be in next year's rankings.
Not many of the Top 60-70 are left.........Robert Eppinger is still listed, ability to qualify may be one of the reasons a kid is still on the list.

Some of those kids did commit or even sign LOI's and then backed out, like Devin Ebanks (Indiana), Bud Mackey (Indiana), Tyshawn Taylor (Marquette), and Brad Tinsley (Pepperdine).

        tornado-

Could you find some rankings from two years ago for the Juco's? I would be interested in seeing where some of those top Juco's landed, how they did, etc...

One name that stands out in my mind (being in Iowa and all) is Cory McIntosh. He was the California JC player of the year, and was only good enough to start at Iowa State for a short time before transferring out (was not good enough to play at a mid-to-high major level, IMO). Thanks!

Also, I am assuming that Ali Farakhmanesh from Kirkwood CC (UNI signee) is not on the top 150 Juco list, correct? I doubt he would be, but just making sure.

Here are a couple 2006 Juco rankings--

          Jucojunction/Rivals--

          Hoopmasters--

Just looking over the top 50 players on the Jucojunction list, very few of them had any significant impact. Sonny Weems had a nice career at Arkansas, and a couple more had decent careers-- Roy Bright (Delaware State), John Williamson (Cincinnati), Cyrus Tate (Iowa), Lance Stemler (Indiana), Dom Johnson and Anthony Slack (ISU).
I would say that the jucos that Bradley has had the past couple years, Marcellus Sommerville, Tony Bennett, Lawrence Wright, Will Franklin, Zach Andrews, and Matt Salley have all done better than 90% of the players on those Top 100 lists.

Here are the 2008 Top Juco lists. Farakhmanesh is not on either list. They put very few Division II kids on these lists. #23 Jeremie Simmons of Mott, and #34 Bobby Hill of Lincoln, and #140 John Pringle of Essex (NJ) County are the only 3 I can see.

Here is a summary of how all the guys from 2006 panned out.
Not many made much of a splash

Here is some stuff on the 2007 players

Note that SEVERAL of those who ranked inside the TOP 20 turned out to have less than stellar college careers so far,
DeAaron Williams, DePaul's Matija Pocsic, Nate Minnoy, Steve Harley, DeAndre Thomas, Jason Francis...

By the way, Ali Farakhmanesh was a 1st team All American for Division II as was Bobby Hill. However, that's a little harder to evaluate since there are some 1st team all Americans at DII Juco that do not even get offers from Division I schools.--

Here are the Division I Juco All Americans. Quite a few are going to Division I schools, but none to the MVC that I know of.--

Thanks guys! I appreciate the info. I have never been a huge fan of going the Juco route, so I was interested in those hard numbers.

Rob Lowery from Cecil committed to Dayton. D2 JUCO All-American like Simmons. In the all-star game he had 19pts (6 3's) and 8 assists. Played on Simmons' team. Hopefully he turns out to be serviceable at least . Never know what you will get with JUCO kids.
