  • Creighton Signs Another Guard

Just when you thought they were done recruiting, they get a verbal from a California juco guard
Justin Carter, a 6-4 soph shooting guard from Gaitherburg, MD

Fullerton also has Darrien McKinstry, a player Bradley was recruiting

Since Creighton was otherwise out of scholarships, this MUST mean either someone else is leaving or the recently announced commit, Xavier Keeling isn't coming or won't be admitted.

So when Creighton got their last player before this one.... was there anything to lead anyone to believe they were done? Did DA have to be a politician and dance around questions about being done, what 'being done for today' means, any chance of a flip-flop if something comes up, etc?

Maybe Omaha reporters and editorial writer's there don't ask the tough questions? Maybe they don't ask the dumb questions?

      Wow....
Dont mean to scare the Bradleyfans but this kid might be one of the best juco players I have seen in the last 10 yrs. He is an incredible player and Bradley will have its hands full with him. I heard there was no way he was going to get academically qualified but if he did watch out. He killed us to knock us out of the state playoffs.
ps - Zach Andrews was at our gym playing yesterday and looks great!!! Looks like an NFL tight end and still as athletic as ever.

Great to hear from you COACHCORN, and say hi to Zach from all us fans in Peoria.
This kid Carter sounds a lot like P'Allen Stinnett. They do call him a "3" but wouldn't you think at the D-I level he'd play the SG spot.
Of course they could go with 3 guards, maybe even 4 at times, but at least one is going to be a PG, and they also have Cavel Witter, Booker Woodfox, Kaleb Korver, and then Josh Jones and Antoine Young.
They'll have a good batch of guards.

ISU will also have a decent set of guards.........starting with Osiris, but they add Bobby Hill (guard/forward), Chamberlain Oguchi, Lloyd Phillips, and Kenyon Smith, and they return Holloway and Odzic. Redshirt transfer Landon Shipley is also eligible. In fact, it'll be hard to know all their roster next year without a scorecard, as Illinois State will actually have 8 new players next year counting all the new signees, transfers, and redshirts.

The eight new ones will be Jeremy Robinson, Kenyon Smith, Ty Modupe, Chamberlain (Champ) Oguchi, Blake Mishler, Lloyd Phillips, Bobby Hill (well, not totally new), & Landon Shipley.

BU's also returns two of the top scoring and best guards in the conference as well as Theron Wilson who can play as a guard.
We also add several new guards (Chris Roberts, Eddren McCain, Darian Norris, Dodie Dunson) to a few who were already here (Cole-Scott and the walk-on guys). I think we can match up !

now rumor that ISU will boot a couple players, as they have to free up a scholarship for Lloyd Phillips, but they also want to land Kellen Thornton, prep schooler from Brewster

Here's an interesting fact about the new guy Creighton just signed, Justin Carter...

This Jucojunction report says he is a 3rd year player and in his 5th semester..

That would seem to suggest he only has 3 semesters remaining, or possibly just one and a half years.

I am also sending an e mail to the guy from Jucojunction who wrote the article and ask about it.

Just like a player who starts out at a 4-year school, players who start out at juco have 5 years in which to play 4 seasons. When they say he is a 3rd year juco, I doubt very much that he's played all 3 seasons....which I think would violate juco rules. So, assuming that he's only actually played 2 years of juco ball, he should have 2 years of eligibility remaining.

Those questions were all brought up here, not in the paper.

But the story on Jucojunction SAYS
"Carter is a third year player but is only in his 5th full time semester."

It doesn't say he is a 3rd year student, it says he is a 3rd year player...
maybe that's the same thing, but it doesn't sound like it.

I still don't know what was meant by this, but he does appear to have 2 years of eligibility at Creighton like any other juco kid.
