This is a wonderful move for Cat, BU, and Peoria. It only strengthens the relationship between one of the nation's finest private institutions and one of the world's finest companies.
      Onward and Upward!

Cool. I wonder though if this gift has to be earmarked towards certain projects, maybe for the engineering department at Bradley or something to improve Peoria in general.

Hehe. I know there's a lot of ISU grads at CAT too that are probably going to be irritated.

The $30 million goes toward a 5-year, $150+ million plan caled the Campaign for a Bradley Renaissance. The funds will be used to renovate and expand Westlake Hall, create a new engineering and business center, a new alumni center and strengthen its endowment.

The College of Engineering and Technology will be renamed The Caterpillar Colege of Engineering and Technology.

In addition to Caterpillar's $30 million gift, 20 other donors have pledged at least $1 million each and over $104 miillion has already been pledged.

Here are some of the major donors other than Cat--
            Individuals--

            Corporations--

            Estates--

Never fear, it was probably money originally earmarked for the museum/visitor's center ... AKA the world's largest empty lot.

Also, while the article talks about updates to Westlake, the last rendering is of the Hartmann Center, no?

Here are the drawings. I am not sure what view the top one represents. The next 2 have a caption that indicates what direction they are looking, and the bottom one I think is a view of the west side of Bradley Hall?-

After further research, I think the top rendering also shows the planned Alumni Quad that is on the west side of Bradley Hall.

good than its not just me...i sat there staring at it for 15 minutes and i couldnt figure it out and i go to bradley...from what it looks like, it looks like it is coming from the area just south of the new parking deck looking east...because you can see the new fieldhouse...the smoke stack from that boiler building, and then bradley hall...but i couldnt figure out what the heck building is in between that and bradley hall, but then i read the article again, and that must be part of the bradley hall that they claim will extend westward. and no the last rendering is of westlake. The thing you cant see is the clock tower because it is looking from the west side to the east, in which the clock tower is on the west side of westlake. The thing just to the left in the picture is the big glass stairway on the southeast wide of bradley hall now.

the thing i find entertaining in the renderings (that will obviously be fixed) is that in the first picture showing the fieldhouse...the little circle drive has no outlet...that car is screwed lol
