The 2007 One-and-Done Players

Just a reflection back on the crop of college freshmen who jumped to the NBA last year and how they did.
This is the first group who were forced to go to at least one year of college by the NBA age rule.

Greg Oden - (Portland) injured before season started, has not played
Kevin Durant - (Seattle) started 80 games, 20.3 ppg
Mike Conley - (Grizzlies) played 53 games 9 ppg, 4 apg, lost a lot of games to injury
Brendan Wright - (Warriors) didn't play much, 38 games 4 pts, 2.6 rpg
Spencer Hawes - (Kings) 71 games, 4 pts, 2 rebs per game
Thaddeus Young - (76ers) 74 games 8 ppg, 4 rpg
Jarvis Crittendon - (Grizzlies) played 50 games, 5 ppg, 2 rpg
Daequan Cook - (Heat) 59 games, 8ppg, 3 rpg
Josh McRoberts - (Blazers) played 8 games, sent to D-League
(I threw McRoberts in even though he was a soph, since he also just wasn't ready)

I guess you can't blame a kid for going for the big payday, but only 2 or 3 of these very early entries had good years, the rest are a few years away.

I suspect a couple of this year's one and done players will be successes such as Michael Beasley, Derrick Rose. Time will tell...

I think that Spencer Hawes had a few good games in the last month when Artest, Miller and Martin were all out due to injury. Rest of the time he was stuck with 5-10 minutes a game like most rookies. I suspect Oden will have the same foul problems as POB. Oden almost fouled out of every big dance game. Now with his knee injury, that might make him even slower.
