Costs too much, and isn't education really the priority?

"The North Florida Community College Board of Trustees voted unanimously to suspend intercollegiate athletic programs for the 2008-09 school year due to anticipated budget reductions.

???It was an agonizing decision but the college had no other option given the budget reductions we are facing,??? said President Morris G. Steen Jr.

Administrators anticipate a revenue reduction of more than $590,000 next year. The athletic budget was $473,773 of NFCC??™s $8.9 million total budget for 2007-08."

NFCC is a Division I junior college

My business sells to the UC system and all I am hearing from them is budget cut..... States are not and will not be able to fund schools like in the past this year and for the forseable future. I'd rather have them cut athletics than academic programs anyday.
