There's nothing wrong with that path. All of those guys I mentioned pulled in some very good paychecks. But they all did it at the expense of coaching losing teams at the highest level. I'm not sure why Izzo would even explore the thought of coaching in the NBA when there's an obvious pattern from the past 15 years of successful college coaches who floundered in the NBA.

Well maybe it's a ploy to get MSU to pony up 3-4mil per year like they get in the pros. If not Izzo get 3-4 per year in a 5 year deal and if it doesn't work he goes back to college for 1-2 per year.I guess I don't see much of a downside

Better owner in Chicago than "Papa Bear" Halas? that's outright blasphemy, and a darn slippery slope.
Amen to that. Reinsdorf isn't even the 'owner' of the Bulls. He's the chairman of a number of shareholders who all have a stake in the team. He's one of the shareholders. I also question how good of a baseball owner he really is, and it goes far beyond his team's performance on the field. But, that's neither here nor there and kind of off topic for this board anyways.
        Onward and Upward!

Why do 3 star or lower recruits go to elite programs and sit on the bench when they could be the star of a mid-major?
Either they want to be a the top level or have an ego about them thinking they are better than they are and "I won't fall into that trap"

If he's using it as leverage to get a better deal at MSU, I totally understand. But if he's really contemplating a move to the NBA, he should take a long look at how other college coaches have recently done in the NBA.

why look at the other coaches?

Again what is the downside? Izzo can coach college anytime he wants if it didn't work in the pros.....only he would have more$$$$ in his pocket when doing so

Tom Crean's going to be kicking himself if the MSU job opens up.
