SO WHAT?! I can't believe we are back to this again!

He lied about Ruffin so as to trick his opponent into game planning for the game without him. EVERY coach does this!

If a reporter asked a coach to give details about his game plan for an important game, is it unethical for that coach to give untrue or deceptive information so as not to reveal his true game plan and give the other team an undeniable advantage?

Of course it is not. No coach or participant in any sport on any level would consider it unethical to dodge the question or give deceptive answers in order to give his own team an advantage. It happens in every sport from basketball to poker to competetive bass fishing.

Anyone offended by this should get out of following competetive sports.

If anyone thinks this is unethical, let me ask this, should a baseball pitcher be required to tell the batter what pitch he's about to throw? Why not? It's the same issue!

I didn't say I thought Jim Les shouldn't have told the truth. I just said he shouldn't have lied. If he didn't want to disclose anything about Ruffin's status, he shouldn't have said anything at all. Les has been around the media long enough to know that -- at least I'd think so.

I'm not stupid enough to think that coaches and players aren't always up front with what's going on. And I realize that not wanting to disclose information about injuries and whatnot is gamesmanship. All I'm saying is if you don't want to talk about it, then don't talk about it. Just don't lie. It's simple as that. Because if you do and the media finds out, it certainly doesn't do anything to improve your relationship with the media. And, from what a lot of people say on here, that's something BU and the PJS could improve on.

no...it is something that the PJS needs to improve!

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

Hey, I'm just trying to clarify things here, B4L. I wouldn't have talked about it if it hadn't been brought up by someone else.

My point was that he makes a complete mockery of the whole thing because absolutely everyone knows that Brady's fine and Belichick is just lying. He started doing it after one of the other coaches pulled a Les-Ruffin Illinois St thing. How would we react if next year before every ISU game Jankovich said that Eldridge was beat up when he looked completely fine?

Well NFL coaches have been doing this for years.... The only time I pay attention to an NFL injury report is if the report states that a player is definately not going to play in an upcoming game.... AS for your ISU comparison, if Jank had publicly stated an injury in the media for Eldrigdge and Eldridge was and or appeared fine, I would chalk everything up to "coach speak" about a player with a minor injury and state that BU should prepare for a healthy game from Eldridge.... I wouldnt loose any sleep over whether a lie had taken place in the media.

It was brought up by others. Please don't act like I instigated this.

And I also commented on the topic of the thread. So chill out.

Out of balance, when you start a thread on a Bradley basketball board cutting up our coach, IMO you shouldn't tell other posters to chill out. Most of us are happy with coach Les. You shouldn't expect us to let it go without defending him.

Until school ends or one of the players tells him that they are leaving I believe his statement is true today but subject to change any day. (end of statement)

I think this whole thread is funny and can't believe it managed two pages.

Everything JL said here makes perfect sense to me. They never stop recruiting because anything can happen. I don't think it should be that hard to understand

Go to a top header titled "Quick Links", select "User Control Panel", Then "Edit Options".... then 3rd section down titled "Thread Display Options", for "Number of Posts to Show Per Page" select "40 Posts Per Page" in the drop down box....

Then this thread is still (currently) only 1 page.
