  • We need a leader

Just my humble opinion, but this past season BU lacked a leader and I think we need someone to step up and fill that role early. In another thread here Creighton's coach was quoted to have expressed the same need.

Who's it going to be the Braves? For my money Andrew Warren should fill that role and the sooner the better. I know some here will argue that Daniel and Jeremy were leaders last year. Maybe so, but I think they were quiet lead by example leaders. Nothing wrong with that, but I really think we need a take charge guy and I think Andrew is perfect to fill that role for the next two seasons. Opinions?

I think it will be Sammy, now that Ruff is gone he will step up and be the vocal and emotional leader of the team.
    Can we start winning soon?

Sammy would be my second choice only because he'll be a soph.

I agree with Lakeview... I have also said this on previous posts... Sammy will be the leader of this team. I think that Andrew is the lead by example type of player. not a knock on AW by any means...

Agree with your comments re: the lack of vocal leadership this past year. IMO, your team captains should provide that type of leadership.

Not to change the direction of this thread, but perhaps the more pertinent question is who the captain(s) of the team will be next year. I vote for Theron and Andrew.

We had 3 captains last year. Why not include Sammy as a captain?

Sammy and Andrew. Sammy exudes leadership. Heck, when DR was out he practically willed this team to a near-win against Drake and a win against Evansville. Andrew has similar qualities as well.

You may be right, Ben. That was my problem with last year's team. Yes, we did have lead by example types, but I really think we need a vocal leader this year. If not AW then SM will be fine. Just so someone fills that role.

Theron is a more outwardly vocal/emotional player and would be the best vocal leader among the likely starters. (SM AW TW) It would be nice for AW to fill that role, but I'm not sure...

Captains, I can certainly see TW and SS

I would have to agree that SamMan seems to be a sprkplug and is not afraid to get in peoples faces even seen that this past year as a freshman. AW, in my opinion would be more like JC as far as leading-great example on how to get it done but, I may be wrong here, I don't see him being that vocal. TW may very well be able to provide that vocal leadership also. A team really needs both types of leadership.

I agree completely. Last years team completely lacked the "get in your face" type. Sometimes a team needs someone to grab some jerseys in the huddle and fire it up. I agree with some that AW won't necessarily be that guy. He'll be great as an example of leaving it all on the floor but I think Sammy will be the one to step up and get vocal.
I don't smoke weed...I smoke dudes like you on the bball court

Agreed that SamM and Theron should be the "vocal" leaders and AW will have no problem being the lead-by-example player!

                          Captains......AW, TW, and SS.
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

Any chance RA could be a vocal leader?

Its time for SS to step up! He is the senior member of this team! He has been here 5 yrs. through the good and the bad! He has shown he has the toughness to come back from two injurys and play hard! He's smart both on and off the court. He conducts himself as a player/student who young players look up to. He is a team player, the first to congraduate a player (players), plays hard, gives his all, and is very supportive of the coachs and the school! After the yr. we had, SS could be the leader this team needs both on and off the court!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
