  • Redshirt?

Someone has to get redshirted right?
Whether it's norris, mccain or possibly even roberts, we have a lot of guards and i don't see how they could all get legit p.t.
who should get redshirted? (if anyone)

Wont be Roberts, no way a JUCO is going to reshirt.
    Can we start winning soon?

way too early to talk about who is or isnt going to redshirt until we see the makeup of the team this fall.....
      Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

Agreed Beni... if anything, this is just looking for a negative amongst a positive.

          I don't think anyone will redshirt unless it's a 4 year big man that's a late signee.

Way too early to decide on a redshirt as injuries happen before the season , you also have to see who fits in immediately and who struggles at the start with our system.(this is a nice problem to have).

                Easy now, easy.

There's nothing negative there, it's a legit question, when did redshirting automatically become a negative thing? If anything, the fact that we've got a surplus of talent is a good thing. It's been said many times by many different people on the board that if used properly (if that's the right term), redshirting can be quite beneficial for the team and the player.

it's negative because we are speculating which incoming player is least ready for DI basketball at Bradley. Redshirting is a good thing for many young players but the fact is when we decide a player should redshirt we are saying that he's not ready to contribute in his first year. i agree with those who say it is negative and unproductive at this point.

I was thinking that with all these guards that we would see more pressure on the full court and even a more up tempo game. With the depth that we appear to have at guard, this just makes sense. Looking forward to an exciting next few years as these guys mature.....

I agree with what you have said. But thats only have the game as you have to have the down under game to. Something that we were missing this yr. I am concerned again with JL small game! I, like most the others here believe a guard will leave and one or maybe two will redshirt. I just don't see having all of these guards on the team next year! Need Rebounds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't see any redshirt candidates so far. Very rarely do guards redshirt.

Bradley will have 5 bigs next year on scholarship, but 3 of them will be seniors. I'd like to see one more for the future. It looks like I'm on the same page as BB.

Alright, I'll go along with the fact that we'd all be making an uninformed decision if we picked a specific player, and should probably stay away from that aspect.

But if we generalize the question a bit, it's a little more palatable, I think:

Do we have a surplus of players/guards that may lead to a redshirt?

To the contrary...with the time it takes for a juco player their junior year to get aclimated to D1 (A few exceptions)... I think it make great sence to sit out a year under the system and hit the ground running for 2 productive years. More i think about it you dont see examples of this.... is it because not everyone has the luxury for that fifth year or if they need a medical thereafter their out of luck...but isnt that the risk you take with any redshirt?... besides with a medical you can still loby for a sixth... I just keep thinking of the times you hear "a juco is ordinary only going to be productive his last year"

Bradley actually has 6 "bigs", if you count Theron Wilson, who I think should be counted as a big since he plays a forward position, effectively defends other bigs, and will be our top rebounder next year--
                              Sam Singh (Sr.)
                              Rashad Austin (Sr.)
                              David Collins (Sr.)
                              Theron Wilson (Sr.)
                              Anthony Thompson Fr.)
                              Will Egolf (So.)
