The university gave women's basketball coach Pat Summitt a raise to $1.125 million per year. Pearl's salary is a meager $1.10 million per year.

Pat Summitt has over 800 wins at Tennessee,

Pat Summitt has over 900 career wins (913-177), ALL at Tennessee, and has a 92-17 record in NCAA Tournament games, is 38-0 in first round games, and 17-10 in Final Four games.
She has been the National Coach of the Year seven times, and in 2000 was voted the Naismith Coach of the CENTURY!!
She is all time 360-56 in SEC games, and has won 13 SEC Championships. AND all of this came at Tennessee, so just maybe she derserves to be paid well for doing her job well.

By contrast, Bruce Pearl has done a fine job of selling himself to whoever is paying him over one Million per year.
