  • Stanford's Trent Johnson to LSU

Trent Johnson is leaving Stanford after four seasons to become the new coach at LSU, according to several media reports.

LSU must have made a pretty good offer

Johnson was coming up on the final year of his contract, and I hadn't heard any word of an extension. With the Lopez brothers leaving, and the much lighter academic requirements at LSU, I think this was a no-brainer.

On the other hand, Standford is a basketball school, while just about the only thing that matters in the state of Louisiana is LSU football. I'm really surprised he made this move, but I guess money talks.

Is it? They have had some good football teams from time to time. Their basketball program really wasn't much before Mike Montgomery. While LSU is football crazy, they've got a much better basketball tradition than Stanford has.
