  • Hare a Saluki?

Sounds like the Salukis could be strengtening their backcourt soon picking up an additional Chicago area star and champ:

Please delete this thread...I didn't know it was already posted.

This is OK< as it hasn't been posted as its own topic...

but for those who want to see more discussion on this and the statements made by Dillard..

By the way, if Hare does go to SIU, they have a considerable backlog at guard......

    Hare??
    Mullins
    Bone
    Bocot
    Clemmons
    Green
    Roundtree
    Dillard
    Parrish

and there's still no official word of these guys or whether they are gone but it appears so..

Yes, I see that now, but supposedly he is still headed to SIU after a year at Brewster, is that true?

Green was a senior this year, so he's gone.

Parrish won't be at SIU next year. He may or may not be a Saluki the following year, depending on who you believe.

There's also talk of Roundtree and/or Hare not being eligible to play next year, possibly going prop 48.

          So that leaves:
          Hare (prop 48/redshirt?)
          Mullins (senior)
          Bone (junior)
          Bocot (freshman)
          Clemmons (senior)
          Roundtree (prop 48?)
          Dillard (freshman)

SIU officially announces that Ryan Hare has signed his LOI, but....
The SIU announcement has caused some concerns among SIU fans.

Note that the news release lists all the "five new players on next year's team..."

and here are the names they list --
"In addition to Hare, the Salukis signed three players last fall -- guards Kevin Dillard and Torres Roundtree, and forward Anthony Booker. Redshirt freshman center Nick Evans will also make his Saluki debut next season."

            OK.....am I missing something??
Isn't Justin Bocot planning to play next season?
Is this just an oversight, or does SIU know something??
The release doesn't make any mention of Bocot.

That is strange that they'd mention Evans and not mention Bocot. Hmm...

With so many newcomers, I think SIU is going to experience some growing pains very similar to BU's this year. I think that '07's surprising success and this year's roller coaster showed us just how valuable experience at the DI level is.

Evans was a redshirt who was under scholarship, and practicing with the team, and on track to be eligible next year.

Bocot was different. He is under prop 48-- he's not on scholarship, and not officially part of the team. He was not allowed to practice with the team or participate in any team activities. And he will only be eligible if he finishes his first year of school in good standing. Since that will take another month to determine, I think that's why they couldn't say he will be part of next year's team. Supposedly he is on track to gain a scholarship.

They were unable to discuss Bocot due to the fact that he "greyshirted" last season and hasn't signed his letter of intent yet. He cannot do so until after the school season assuming he is in good academic standing.
