Well, good game guys. We both played poorly, we played less-poorly at the end.
1) Refs... ugly again. They started by blowing on Tulsa nonstop, then decided to blow plenty of makeup calls. The reverse happened in the second half. But down the stretch (5 minutes) they put their whistles away until Bradley started fouling to stop the clock. I don't think claims that the refs did it will have much merit.
2) Crouch was either well guarded or just off tonight. He aired one up from 3, shot ~50% from the line, and didn't have any of his nice little floaters. I think it was some of each (guarding and being off). Shooting 35% from the floor (what 30% in the second half) was a death blow.
3) If Tulsa's offense was any more boring I was going to charge the floor. Again you guys had good ball movement as seen by your assist #s (though we got around screens/switched MUCH better) and got a ton of open looks. Most of Tulsa's shots were ugly and we had to earn it. Your guys usually had great defense.
4) Rebounds, you lost on rebounds. I think we were +10 on the glass and we shot it well from the stripe. That was the difference going in to it. Well, that and you couldn't buy a shot in the second half for some reason.
5) Bradley Fans: The fans at the game were LOUD, the stood the entire time, and they were courteous when I bumped into a few after the game. They over flowed the "visitor" section and spread out into the rafters. I'd say 200 - 300 red glad Braves. Not bad with 36 hours notice!
Some jerk wad behind me actually told me to sit down (another Tulsa fan ) when we were down 24-25 and we had the ball trying to take the lead for the first time. Luckily he was shouted down by those around me who asked him for the rest of the game "can we stand up now?" Some people...
But again, I was impressed with the fans in red. Both on this site, in Illinois (by the way, I'd say 33% of people here pronounce the "S" - we are near the Illinois river so it comes up from time to time. I'm from Iowa, the "S" drives me crazy. Argh), and in Tulsa. I hope they still had a good trip - they certainly saw an entertaining back and forth game.
6) Your players were composed for the most part the entire game. i saw no Tulsa nor Bradley players that whined constantly about calls, no cheap shots (above the normal position fighting etc.) and frequently saw a pick-up after a hard foul. On a 3 game series I was afraid there would be some ill emotion out there.
Good games. Good series. I hope we see you again sometime (next year in the final 4 sound OK?).
