  • Man, those refs

had nothing to do with the outcome of the game ;o)

Your guys came out with something to prove.
Our guys came out like it was a scrimmage and got schooled.

Too bad you all couldn't hit a three to save your life, lol.

Honestly, I was blown away by how well Bradley played. They looked better than Houston, UAB, and UTEP out of C-USA.

    Well played!

    Now, on to game 3...

I agree. Last night's officiating did not appear to favor either team. Let's hope the refs on Friday do the same.

Actually, considering, as another Tulsa fan wrote, Bradley was the aggressor all night, and lead nearly the entire game, Tulsa actually shot more free throws than Bradley. You will not see that very often.

Bradley was without a doubt the aggressor and I was very surprised that TU shot more free throws that Bradley. Especially with how you all dominated inside. Typically when your outquicked outside and just plain beaten inside, you are on the short end of the free throw numbers.

I have to admit that I cringed when I opened this thread... I never like to pin any win or loss on the zebras. Now on to game 3. It should be fun to see what adjustments both teams make.

Thanks Demon...appreciate your civility and insight. MIGHT see you in Tulsa Friday. Question...does your place sell Beer?

As I have stated in follow up posts/threads the Refs didn't really cost us the game Monday In Tulsa. We played very poorly and you guys beat US.

Did the refs have a poor game..ummmmmmmm YEAH but that happens. I guess that continuation call really got to me. When I saw that...most likely the worst call I've seen in College basketball, it REALLY gets you wondering. Couple that with the loss and ARGHHHHHHHHHHH....easy to blame them (refs).

BU is healthy for the first time in QUITE sometime and many feel we are a NCAA team when healthy.

Its still going to be a tall order Friday as you guys obviously play well at home. Should be a burner....

Hey-- just for argument sake.....consider this example of how a single call or two can result in nearly a 10 point swing...

Bradley was playing very well mid-way through the 2nd half, and with David Collins in the game hitting jumpers, BU was about to blow the game wide open.
BU took an 18 point (59-41) lead at 12:29 remining, and Tulsa called a time out to stop the bleeding.

Nine seconds after the time out, David Collins was called for the first of two rapid-fire fouls (both were a little questionable), so that Collins had to come out, and Singh & Egolf came in.
At 10:32, just two minutes later....the score was 59-47, the lead cut by 6, and then by 8:45 the lead was 64-55, before Ruffin and Warren hit 3-pointers to make the lead comfortable again.

Say what you want if you don't notice the call, but those two marginal calls on DC "kept the game close" and "prevented a blowout".

Unfortunately our place does not sell beer and I can't make the game due to my cousins wedding which is at 6:00.

I'll be checking the score on my PDA at te reception though ;o)

Why did Collins "have to come out"? It was midway through the second half and it was only his second foul. That's not considered foul trouble and there isn't a rule that you have to come out of the game if you get two fouls in rapid succession. Or has that rule been added?

Do you feel the officials decided to call two fouls on Collins--even if he didn't foul his player--only to keep the game close? I mean, David Collins had a nice game but he wasn't exactly a guy people circle as a major game contributor coming in. If they were trying to call fouls on guys to keep the game close I would think Crouch, Ruffin, Warren, etc. would come in line before David Collins.

I understand your point was for argument's sake but it holds no water.

I agree fouls (right or wrong ) are called. But fouls do not make baskets and points, players do. And thats what happen as they started making 3's and thats how they chiped away at the lead late in the game. The two calls as I saw them on DC were good ones as he was bet and was trying to stop a easy one. Also in the first half we increased our lead when we had DC and SS were in there togather. Also WE came in at that time not SS. SS didn't play in the second half untill the :23 when DR & JC came out.

Got me....ask JL, but it IS a fact that immediately after that foul, he came out and Will Egolf entered.
Maybe you'd have done it differently but most coaches do consider removing a player if he picks up two fouls within a minute--
if your question is some kind of proof you are right, then it holds no water, as I have stated the facts correctly, just check the game log as linked.

Yes--he did come out. But he didn't HAVE to come out. Major, major difference right there. It wasn't like he had four fouls with 12 minutes to go. He had two fouls. Again, he didn't HAVE to do anything. Jim Les could have easily kept him in the game. This idea that the officials forced anyones hand is offbase.

You stated that because of two fouls called on him the officials made it impossible for David Collins to play. Just not the case. If anyone gets the "blame" for the run it would be Jim Les for taking David Collins out of the game. Now, I don't believe that, nor do I believe the officials were trying to "keep the game close" by calling two fouls on David Collins. But Jim didn't have to take him out.

                          Thats a ludicrous belief.

it is as it is.....if you don't see it, fine, I can live with that...
but I see it, and you are having a hard time convincing me that what you fail to see isn't there.
I suspect Jim Les agrees, judging from his pulling DC at that point and the "T" he got when Salley was whistled at a critical time while we were on offense with a chance to tie the game, and all Salley was doing was what the TU bigs had done all night long without a whistle...
bad calls, homer calls, make up calls, and keep the game close calls...

                              mainly because I completely agree

and btw what coach wouldn't take a player out for getting 2 fouls in like one minute? The officials understand the game and understand the likelihood of a guy coming out after 2 fouls in a short time span (extremely high)..unless you are losing in the final minute of a game
