  • GG 2 (hint: it wasn't the refs)

    Argh!

    1) You shot our lights out. hard to beat a team shooting near 70%, especially when they are near 60% from 3 point land. Double especially when Tulsa shoots < 40%.

    2) Great ball movement. Snap, snap snap open shot.

    3) Tulsa had amazingly BAD ball movement. What, 20 turnovers with 6 of those easy pass picks for layups? Horrible.

I'm glad we fought back. We never played well, but pure effort and a few bombs made it respectable. It would have been easy to give up when down by 20 having been down big all game. As least we have that going for us.

Oh, and it wasn't the refs. There were the usual bad calls, I thought Jordan was getting mugged, a really late whistle against you guys, and on more than one occasion a Brave was walking that red line with no call. But surely it wasn't the difference. If it makes the guys who were calling "BS" before feel better we can pretend that it was.

Let's see how the game is called on Friday in Tulsa.

Afterwards, we can debate the officials.

      Ditto Jesse.

I said on Monday that whoever controls the pace will win. I'll have to wait for the game stats, but I'll bet there were 10 more possessions tonight than on Monday. It was eerily similar to our home/road split with Houston.

Well if that's going not be the argument then I had better assert that the only reason you won game 2 was because of the refs. I really don't think that's true, but just so I have an argument later I need that to be on the record.

It was a hard fought game. Calls were missed both ways. And you won. Nothing more, nothing less.

I never said we lost on Monday related to the officials. We missed more free throws than I would have liked.

The ref seemed to let them play it out! I prefer them to miss a few then to blow a lot ofcalls. BU probaly got the better of the calls but from the internet feed I did not see anything that bad. Again the game on Friday will be won by the team that can dictate the pace of the game.

If we fall asleep for any stretch of the game on Friday we lose. I liked the effort that we had on the boards and DC had a great game. For you Tulsa fans David Collins was seldom used except in the beginning of the season and tonight . He even showed some attitude. I hope he bring it with him to Tulsa.

Great game overall. Glad to see Crouch, Ruffin, and Salley one last time at Carver. I agree the refs didn't determine the outcome of the game this time, or the last game. It seemed like the blown calls at the end of the game could have been to make the game closer, but I doubt that. The refs may not be the best we've seen, but I don't think anyone is telling them to make calls one way or the other, and I think they're just trying to do their job.

Also, to Tulsa fans, who is the little heavy-set kid on your team who came in for the last 20 seconds. That kid did not look like he belonged on a basketball court.
This is just the tip of the iceberg...

I thought the refs were bad. The one non call against BU resulted it a very pronounced long loud boo. More than once TU undercut our guys. Also, they rode us (polite way of saying pushed) us out of bounds. There was another call so bad I think (I did say think - could be wrong) the ref tried to apologize to JL for missing it. And I discussed the kicked ball in another thread. Regardless, it should be a great game on Friday.

from below the student section net...there were some reaaaaally bad calls. BUT they were more or less both ways. I found myself commenting to those around me about the "make-up-calls" that happened quite a bit.

not terrible officiating (i've seen better) but MUUUUUCH better than monday

This game played out exactly as I predicted.
The officiating was fair, though there were some bad calls, especially those mentioned above.

It seemed painfully obvious that this series was going three games ten minutes into the first game. tonight, Bradley got the calls when they needed them to prevent this from being a competitive game.

I'm looking forward to Friday night.

In my experience, the more aggressive team is given the benefit of the doubt by the refs. Not saying that is right, but just that is the way I have seen it happen over the 10 years I have coached and the 30 years I have watched games. Monday, Tulsa was the aggressor, tonight BU was.
Some see a hopeless end, while others see an endless hope.

Can we get over this please? Sheesh...

You're really nuts if you think these games were fixed.

Scouter, you are most likely correct... but I dialed in on the "lock" Bradley would win and cover the spread tonight 'cause they wanted it to go 3 games.
